In 16 days I will have had the Z Flip 4 for a year. A few months in of me having it, the hard plastic back cover is peeling/lifting off, giving me the option to fully peel it off with my nails. When looking under the part that is peeling off, the part that covers the electronics and internals of the phone stays on, as if the peeling part is just a protective cover to make the phone even or something. I don't know whether to keep it on or peel it off, cause its peeling from every side and there is a lot of dust gathering underneath

My battery is fine, so is my screen and my phone performance in general. It's just the hard plastic cover that's peeling off. I added 2 photos with both the top and bottom parts that are peeling off (sorry for bad quality, photos were taken with laptop camera cause I don't have a second phone). I can't find anything even remotely similar to my case online so I don't know what to do really. Because while one of the more obvious things is to repair it, my family is in a kind of bad financial situation right now so we can't afford any repairs. . As you can see here, I am slightly lifting the hard plastic cover with my nail and it seems to be just extra protection or something. I won't peel it off fully cause I don't want to possibly damage my phone's performance but I just don't really understand what is happening.

Hello! I just found your post and the same thing is happening to my zflip 4 and just like you I can't find anything about it online! Were you able to fix it? What did you do?

I have an identical white Z Flip 4, about 2 years old. The back cover only is peeling off, just like the picture you posted. Anyone here sent one in for repair? If so, what was the cost and time required?

Quick follow up: According to 2 different Samsung phone repair technicians, the problem is usually due to the batteries swelling and expanding as they age, which forces up the covers. There are YouTube videos on how to replace the batteries yourself, but it's a complicated procedure involving heat guns and removing components that are covering the batteries. The price they quoted me for professionally replacing both batteries was just under $200. Rather than investing that amount in a 3 year old phone, I decided to accept the trade-in offer for a new Flip 6. With tax, I'm paying $470 plus my old phone for the Flip 6. One of the supposed advantages of the Flip 6 is a larger and improved battery.

Same thing happened here! The glass finally fell off completely, so I cleaned it up with isopropyl alcohol and I'm actually thinking of gluing it back on again!
So weird to see that the purple/black film didn't come off with it... Never seen smth like this...
Just to clarify, I also do not have a battery bulging issue. The glass just started to come off by itself a few months ago and that's it.

Judging from the responses to this thread, it's a definite issue with Z Flip 4. Probably due to inferior glue or defective batteries which begin to swell. Samsung should provide free or discounted service for phones which experience this problem. I hope it's not carrying forward to Flip 6 models, too.
