It's been 3 months already since I received the Z Flip6 for testing. Doesn't time fly.
I pretty much already knew what the Flip could do. Being interested in tech I had watched many reviews. I've been using the Flip6 as my primary device, removing my sim and putting my s23 ultra aside. I will say the Flip6 has performed flawlessly. Software runs really well and haven't had any issues. Two apps occasionally take a long time to load. Few website pages do seem to lag, not the feel of 120hz going on. The funny thing is the two apps and websites are samsung😂. Sorry samsung just telling the truth. Apps are Samsungs PenUp app and members. Every other app I use no problems. I know it's not the device as it does the same on my s23 ultra.
Battery has been excellent, I get about a day and half, 2 with light usage. Charge from 20% to 100%. Considering I've no settings on to save battery and no routines. Running at best performance. Note I do not play games on phone, for my usage battery has not been a problem.
I've used my 25w samsung plug and cable and also have a samsung wireless duo charger. No problems with either. Best thing with wireless is when the Flip is folded it's the perfect size to sit on the charger. I have put my s23 ultra on my wireless charger a good few times now. Seen the red light indicator show up, then turn around to go to sleep. When I've woken up to find that my s23 wasn't charged due to it obviously not quite on the correct spot to charge. No need to be moving the Flip about until it's on the correct charging spot, works first time.
When setting up the Flip6 I decided to use just Google apps. Google wallet works great. Don't need to open the Flip6 either, just unlock tap and pay. Tesco is the only place I've had a few issues where I unlock then tap and nothing happens. Open the device, again nothing, a quick lock and unlock it , it will then decide to work. It's done this a few times now in my local Tesco, anywhere else I've had no issues. Don't know if it's a Google thing, samsung wallet on my s23 ultra i never had this problem. I think its tesco card readers. Google messages it's growing on me. Still prefer the samsung messages. There was a moment while texting. I put the phone down to do something. Looked over to the Flip when I heard another text come through. All I seen was flashing green. Thought the screen was malfunctioning😱. I discovered it was the text message happy Halloween. I remember imessage on my iPhone had these effects when putting happy birthday and such. When you have used samsung messages since 2019 your just not use to it😂. Panic over all is good. As for Chrome and email. I really don't know how i haven't put samsung email and Internet as my default yet. Please samsung don't make everything Google in the future.
In the time I've been using the Filp6. I've come to realise it's benefits. I've mentioned in a previous post it's the best phone in hand due to its compact light weight size. I have not experience the dead hand or pins a needles using this device. Which I think could benefit the ones who do not like the bigger phones. Where this phone flips and has its flex options has got to be the Flips best features. Even the front cover I find very useful. Call quality, no issues, speakers are good to hear calls and texts. Music and media content i do use my buds most of time. Still good enough through the phones speaker.
The main reason I have not purchased a foldable was the fact I was worried about durability. I've used the Flip for 3 months. And I've used it as I would my own devices. I am one that tends to look after my devices, got to use them with a case and screen protector. I do use both my hands to open the Flip, both to close. You will know not to push too hard on the Flips screen, and certainly watch your nails. After just a week of using the Flip6 i did get clicking noises from the hinge when opening and closing. So this had me slightly concerned, however I did find out that it's apparently normal. I still went ahead and visited an EE store to ask them. Just to ease my mind. Cut a long story short, be careful of the hands you let your Flip in. The EE rep decided to use his nail checking for any lifting of the screen protector. They did leave a tiny mark on the screen which you can only see in certain lighting. Not that there is any signs of the screen protector lifting on just a week of use. I'm still stunned to why the rep even bothered. Anyway as time has past the clicking noise has gone. Maybe just normal noises from a new hinge wearing. Either way if you experience this don't panic and think the worse. 3 months later that mark on the screen is the only mark this screen has. I don't think the screens are as delicate as you think. Just don't deliberately put your nail in the screen. Do need a microfiber cloth, these screens like any other device are fingerprint magnets😂
I'm impressed after 3 months use. Don't forget for accidental damage you do have care +. Plenty of options on cases for protecting the Flip to. We do hear the horror stories, but to be honest it's the same with non foldables. You can drop them, accidents happen. Who hasn't seen a post that a slab phone screen has died. I've got lines going down my phone screen. All I'm saying is, if you are interested in a foldable but durability is putting you off. It's really a case of taking a chance. I've seen many posts on reddit, 2 years with my Z Flip3 still going strong.
I think I may be going on too much here, too much to read people will be getting bored😂
I have been really impressed with the Filp6. I've really enjoyed this phone. Would I recommend this phone. Totally, it's the best compact device. Light, small and fits in your pockets. Its the perfect little phone. My concerns about durability or breaking it like i was. Actually getting the chance to use one, I can say i no longer have them concerns.
I do have one more post to come before my testing is complete. For those that are interested in the Z Flip6 do check my other testing the Z Flip6 posts out.
Again a big thank you to
@Lucyc and the comunity team for this opportunity.
