Phone network status: "disconnected"?

I use a PAYG SIM card but my Flip6 reports my phone network status as "disconnected". What could cause that? I am still able to make and receive calls at home, presumably via wi-fi.

I have checked with my provider and my SIM card is in credit and the network signal is strong in my area. They are sending me a replacement SIM card.

If you're connected to WiFi the phone automatically disconnects mobile data to save battery power as it's not required as soon as you turn WiFi off mobile data will automatically reconnect

Perfectly normal, as mentioned above. While using Wi-Fi, it will show as disconnected. To confirm, activate mobile data, and it should update to connected.
