Got the may update about an hour ago and now my fold 4 turns off when I close it. Any idea how to fix?

Have same issue with my Flip 4. I installed the latest update for my Galaxy Z Flip 4 this morning (04/06/2025). This was a different update from last month’s One UI 7.0 release — possibly a security patch or a minor firmware update, though I'm not certain.

Everything appeared to be working fine at first. The update completed, the phone restarted, and there were no immediate issues. However, about five minutes later, I noticed the phone had powered off on its own. I restarted it without any problem, but quickly realized a serious issue: the phone shuts down automatically every time I fold it.

This does not seem to be a hardware issue — the hinge and internal cables appear to be functioning normally. None of my apps updated after the system update, so I don’t believe third-party software is the cause either.

The issue behaves very specifically:

  • If the phone is plugged into a charger or power bank, I can fold and unfold it with no problem.

  • If it’s unplugged, folding the device causes it to shut down instantly.

  • When left unfolded, the phone operates normally in all respects. Is it the same for you? I have logged in the issue with samsung using the error report on the member app in the phone itself. If you didn't please do.

This is identical to the issue mine is having. Same may 1st security update not the one ui 7 uodate.

I also noticed that i can't charge past 45% when folded. It's like the update caused the firmware to forget there's a 2nd battery in the unit unless it's open.
I was speaking to Samsung support live chat for roughly 6 hours total with the only remedy is to send the phone off and pay for repairs after trying all sorts of things including a factory reset.
