You don't need Adobe reader, Google Drive is capable of opening pdf, I personally avoid Adobe reader because it messed me up on previous mobiles, I prefer to use Google Drive

@BinkyMalone: Are you certain that the attached file is a .pdf document? Typically, when opening a file type for the first time, you will be presented with a list of compatible apps. Based on the app options you are being presented with, the file does not appear to be in a recognisable format. Is the message from a trusted contact?
