Update 7th December 2025

Mine us back to not working again after a few days of zero issues. 😪

Update 3rd December 2025

Thanks to MsD666. This solution seems to be working, i havent had any issues for the last few days with replying to emails. Please follow the steps below.

"This worked for me. Once you find android system webmail - uninstall updates. Then go into settings>apps>email>app details in store> three dots on top right corner>untick 'auto update' Hope that helps anyone. Its been driving me nuts too!"

Latest edit 26th November

Unfortunately the fix wE thought we had below stops working and goes back to the same issues again. I encourage everyone to contact Samsung and direct them to this post, hopefully with enough complaints they will actually fix it.

(DOESN'T WORK)
EDIT PROBLEM NOW FIXED THANKS TO SAMUEL953 (SEE HIS POST IN THE COMMENTS.) And here's a copy.

'think I have a fix... Go into Settings, Apps, click on the sort icon and enable "Show system apps". Search for "Android System Webview". When you find the app in the list, click on it and then click on Storage. There you can clear cache and clear data. You may also be able to click on the three dots and also uninstall updates to reset it to factory. Once you've done this restart the phone and the email scroll problem should be resolved. Worked for me.'

Thanks again to Samuel for posting this fix.

So over the last couple of weeks while using the Samsung email app, I'm having issues with what feels like some type of scroll lock.

I can open the app, select which email account I want to read, and can scroll with zero issues, but as soon as I try to reply to an email or compose an email it won't allow me to scroll down the screen.

I've included a screen recording of whats happening, as it will make more sense. Dont worry this is just a spam mail that isnt even using my correct email haha.

Now this happens no matter if its Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail.

Am I missing a setting somewhere that switches on some weird scroll lock? I'm just using the standard settings, and havent changed anything.

I have the latest updates and software of one UI8, but ut was also doing this before I updated.

When you go into Setting/Apps, then at the top of the apps list there's like 3 broken lines with a down arrow (filter), click that.  At the top of that window there's a toggle that says "Show system apps", turn that on and it should show up.  Also make sure it is set to show all apps.

Update: did this fix. It worked for a few days for remove this poisonous Google Web app, and without any other effects other than fixing annoying scroll problem. After a few days the problem comes back like a Google plague.

The permanent solution is switch to another email client. Done.

And goodbye Samsung. Are you listening Samsung, I will not be buying your stuff. They probably couldn't care less about it.

I received this from Samsung support today....."We are aware of the email scrolling issue, the good news is that our software experts have said there will be a fix available this month, keep checking for updates via Settings > Software update > Download and install.

A temporary workaround is to uninstall Android System WebView updates. Head to Settings > Apps > Android System WebView > 3 Dots > Uninstall updates."

Having the exact same problem. I did the suggested factory reset email, made no difference. Samsung mobile email app for my Samsung S24 Ultra is unusable now. The content keeps scrolling where you can't see what your typing. Samsung please provide an update fix.

This is the only thing that worked thus far. Before this, changing the keyboard, I tried clearing cache for email, clearing cache for Andord System Webview, uninstalling and reinstalling the Samsung email app (do NOT do this as all your sent email items for POP accounts will be deleted and it doesn't make the problem go away).

I've been such a strong advocate for Samsung and how well the apps worked but this is really causing me to doubt how robust the system actually is and how quick the developer team can get a fix out for a critical issue. ZERO stars for this effort.

There was no temporary fix for me. I followed the directions step-by-step  and it made no difference.

I have umpteen useless "updates" pending for bloat that I neither use nor want: TTS Thai Voice 1, Samsung Weather Widget, Blockchain keystore, Personal Data Intelligence, etc, etc

Not only does almost nobody want all that bloat, but also it seems come come in front of getting core applications fixed.

Samsung, straighten out your priorities please- fix the essentials before wasting your time coding ever more bloat.
