Hi,

I have a Samsung UE55MU6470UXXU TV. I seem to be getting these strange white lines coming through on the TV.

Any idea on what this is called/how it can be fixed?

See below, i have cicled in red where these lines appear.

Any help would be appreciated as this is driving me nuts!

Thanks,

J

I have the same issue with my five year old, 42” Frame TV.  I suspect the damage to the screen is caused by heat from the power supply.  I noticed the new Frame TV’s have an external power supply.  Hopefully that solves the issue going forward.

So Apparently the problem has not been solved.  I have a not-yet two year old 65" Frame TV and the 'subject problem' here,  just suddenly appeared about a month ago. No, I don't have kids in the house, and no the TV has not been damaged in anyway. Picture was fine, then suddenly boom, bright white line ( I call it a slash ). Also a grayish brown vertical discoloration (looks like a smudge) about four inches wide emanating from the bottom of the screen near the bright light and extending all the way to the top.. (more apparent with light picture background). Has anyone succeeded in getting an out-of-warranty repair or even a new unit from Samsung? Or might have anything to add regarding the repair process? Really don't want to have to just dump it. This is completely IMG_1430.jpegunacceptable for what is supposed to be a premium unit!

The discoloration (smudge) that I referred to. Also as of today there is another light spot starting to appear from the bottom of the frame and to the left of the larger one.

Hi all. I have the same issue. 2 likes appeared about 6 months ago and now one in the middle. All from the bottom of the screen and on the inside. It's not been hit or damaged. Any suggestions to the cause and repair would be welcomed 20240608_144639_1000069433_1717854401.jpg20240608_144634_1000069432_1717854397.jpg

Hello GregD1- After posting here I contacted Samsung support. I explained the issue and provided all of the tech info on my TV..model and serial numbers. She immediately said your TV is out of warranty. I explained what I had learned in this community about the problem. No acknowledgement from her at all of a widespread problem. Not of any help tech-wise either, only that "you need to schedule a service...and you will be responsible for the cost of any repairs". She TM'd a unique link with my TV's info for use in contacting the service center to schedule service. Said that there is nothing they can offer on the cost of repair (we'll see about that..I plan to escalate this), but that they can offer a 10%  discount on a new TV. Uhh..hard NO!, not in this life! She assured that I would be able to communicate the problem in detail to service and obtain more feedback on the potential problem, and perhaps a range of cost. Others have posted that it is a backlight problem and to replace those is less than $500 which I might do. One poster said that Samsung stepped up and covered the cost of the parts only. We'll see about that.  I'll post the results of the service call. Btw- new LG G-3 comes with a 5 year warranty.

Wayne et al,

My five (5) year old 55" Samsung just this past week started displaying two white "swooshes" across two areas. What is the current status of your escalation?  I don't have an estimate of the repair(s) but expect the cost to be prohibitive when considering the cost of new. From all the posts it seems that Samsung is not forthcoming with any reasonable consideration for what reasonable could be considered a "latent defect".

Please post any updates and I will do same.

Thanks !

Same here. TV is about 3 years old. All of a sudden pale bluish-white line at the bottom with white shadows at bottom. Very hot to the touch at the bottom. My local Best Buy has the same model for half what I originally paid. Will be picking it up today and just move this one to upstairs bedroom. My logic is because I purchased the sound bar at the time and that works fine, so I would feel comfortable just replacing with the same model. Samsung sent repair tech out when I first got the TV for a different issue, and it was the worst experience possible. The guy came from 2 states away...2 states away. And he was rude and aggravated he had to come. Never again.
