Suspected widespread defect in Samsung TVs – Consumer concern from Vietnam

Hello Samsung Community,

I’m a consumer from Vietnam and I’d like to raise an urgent concern regarding what appears to be a widespread technical defect in Samsung TVs, specifically the Samsung UA55AU8000 model.

My TV started showing vertical screen lines just a few months after the 2-year warranty expired. After inspection, the technician concluded that the issue was not caused by user mishandling, but instead a spontaneous fault from within the device itself.

I’ve seen many other Vietnamese consumers report similar issues with the same TV model. It raises a serious question:

Is there a systemic defect in this product line?

Unfortunately, in my country, manufacturers often avoid responsibility after the warranty ends – even when defects are clearly from the device itself. As a consumer, this feels unfair and abusive. We invest in your products expecting quality, not failure-by-timer.

I’m posting here to ask:

• Has this issue occurred in other countries?

• How has Samsung handled similar complaints elsewhere?

• Is there any technical explanation from Samsung for this repeating issue?

Please investigate. If this is a mass failure of hardware components, it must be acknowledged and addressed.

Thank you for your attention.

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community EU/UK.

Warranty is always the way; if it's outside of a warranty, not a single retailer will repair it for free—hence what a warranty is.

In the UK, we have the Consumer Rights Act; I'm unsure how this is in Vietnam—you'd have to look that up.

I've not seen this problem occur on these forums relating to that TV, so I can't imagine it's a common defect in the uk/eu

Being a forum for customers, this won't go anywhere besides other customers seeing it. Reach out to samsung directly

Actually, in Vietnam, it’s not difficult at all to find people experiencing the same screen issue right after the warranty expires. In fact, just a quick search shows countless cases from all over the country—from big cities to rural areas. So to say this isn’t a common defect might be a bit premature.
