Samsung Email app unable to search old emails

I'm a user of the Galaxy S23+ smartphone, and I use the Samsung Email app to access my hotmail emails. The app has always worked without any issues, but approximately 5 days ago, it stopped being able to search for old emails.

Whenever I use the search function, it returns the errors: "Unable to search" and "Inbox was searched on the server. No emails found." The only way I can access old emails is by setting the display period in the settings to "Always." However, this makes the loading process slower and still returns "No emails found" when I perform a search.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or knows how to fix it?

For those of you affected by this issue, it may be related to a recent announcement by Microsoft that they will no longer support the use of third party email and calendar apps that require you to sign in with only your MS username and password. If you check your email inbox, have you received an email from Microsoft regarding this issue?

Yes, I have this issue, too. Very irritating. I have tried the fixes suggested but nothing has worked. It is particularly annoying to have to keep explaining that this is about the Samsung email app's ability to search the Outlook server, rather than the length of time it displays emails. I have resorted to using the Outlook app separately to access and retrieve Hotmail, which is annoying because it was useful to have all my email accounts sitting within the one Samsung email app.

Add another user to the list of people who are suddenly unable to retrieve "older" server emails from their Hotmail account via the Samsung email app. Even if I scroll for older emails without a search term, I will get a message that no emails exist.

I do not have a problem retrieving older mails from my other non-Microsoft email accounts, and I am able to retrieve my Hotmail emails from MS Office Outlook or Outlook via PC web browsers.

I saw above a mention that Hotmail (and all MS emails, I guess?) will no longer support 3rd-party apps that use only account-and -password logins. Does this extend to the Samsung email app, or is there a solution to allow it to continue to be useful?

Well there was a delay in replying because I had to wait until I was in front of my laptop to search for the message you refer to - which is exactly the problem!

I found an email from Microsoft from the end of August with changes coming in to force on the 30th Sept but no mention there. I've probably deleted older ones.

I find the Samsung app much more attractive and user friendly than the Outlook one.

However, if this situation cannot be rectified perhaps someone can suggest a well laid out alternative?!

I've signed in again using the Microsoft Authenticator app rather than just username and password and I'm still having the same problem.

So, you are saying we basically have to use a different service if we want to see mail that is more than 5 days old? That is pretty ridiculous. I was very happy with this app. This issue is happening on all of my samsung devices (phone and tablet.) I have no problem finding my old emails on an ipad that I have or my HP Laptop.

So, you are basically saying "go somewhere else if you want to see any emails?"
