Samsung Email app unable to search old emails

I'm a user of the Galaxy S23+ smartphone, and I use the Samsung Email app to access my hotmail emails. The app has always worked without any issues, but approximately 5 days ago, it stopped being able to search for old emails.

Whenever I use the search function, it returns the errors: "Unable to search" and "Inbox was searched on the server. No emails found." The only way I can access old emails is by setting the display period in the settings to "Always." However, this makes the loading process slower and still returns "No emails found" when I perform a search.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or knows how to fix it?

I am having the same issue. It happens on my Samsung Galaxy 23+ phone and Samsung Tab 8. I am having no issues on my Ipad or HP laptop. I spoke to Customer Service and they suggested I clear my data and cache. This did not fix the issue. I use this app for my work emails as it used to be the most user friendly. I have to find a way to use a different app or my ipad if this isn't fixed soon.

Hi @AndrewL , thank you and everybody for the help here.

So, still trying to find a solution. Apparently MS is only allowing the access to e-mails with apps that support Modern Authentication (OAuth). This might be the source of the problem.

The MS support page states that as of September 16th, clients that are not compatible with Modern Authentication will fail to access the account. Can we confirm that Samsun Email App supports Modern Authentication? We are able to access our accounts, just not older mails, so I think it does. If it doesn't, are there any plans for an update?

What doesn't make sense to me is that if we change the sync period to all the time, the mails are there. The app can find them. Couldn't there be a problem in the way the app is requesting the access to the mails from the server while using the search function after this new policy from MS?

I think everyone accessing the post is here because we like the app and would rather continue using it than having to migrate to another one. It would be nice to know that the issue is recognized and a possible solution is in the works.

I think it's also important to note that the issues for me started early last week so way before the September 16th deadline. And as the previous post has stated, we have no issues receiving new emails even after that deadline. The issue is when it comes to accessing older emails that are not located directly on the device anymore.

Same issue.. no probs until a week ago and I have never synced 'all emails'. That's the whole point of selecting the 'search older emails' button.

I'm another unhappy camper.  I prefer the Samsung Email app to  the mobile MSOutlook, but now I have to use Outlook because I frequently search old emails.

Outlook search is not nearly as good Samsung Email was.

Samsung, you need to come up with a fix!!!

Another affected user here on the A52s 5G.

I nearly didn't get into the cinema today as I wasn't able to search for the ticket I bought last month! Had to quickly download the Outlook app and search for the ticket using that.

Samsung - why is this basic feature now not working for any of us?

I join this crowd as a fan of the Samsung email app. I'm really irritated that I cannot search old email. From what I read in the posts, it's evil microsoft's fault. Please do everything you can to restore the search.
