Fridge filter farce

I spent £1200 on a large American style fridge freezer, that has a filtered ice and water dispenser.

The fridge is now 6 months old so I have been prompted to change the filter.

I ordered the filter but it doesnt fit.

After sending back two more that didn't fit. I have been informed that Samsung have discountiued the filter that I need, and I will need to buy an adaptor kit at a cost of £45, a new filter at a cost of £40, and get an engineer around to fit it at an additional cost.

I have been a fan of Samsung for a number of years, but this takes the biscuit!

Why are you passing on these costs to your customers?

Its an absolute disgrace!

Hi @Luffers.

What's the model code of your fridge freezer? Did you speak to the Samsung Tech Support or Online Shop teams about this?

No idea, its not written anywhere, not even in the user manual.

Its either a RSG5P, RSG5U, RSG5M, RSG5F or RSG5D.

I called the Samsung sales team to order the filter, the line was terrible so asked the chap to call me back, he didnt.

Love the fridge, but the experience around getting this filter replaced is unexceptable.

Should be on a label on the inside of the fridge towards the front.

@Luffers Just to confirm, was the filter you got DA2900003G or HAFIN2/EXP? And did you follow the below steps for fitting?

  1. Remove the shelf fitted directly under the water filter to make more room to remove the filter safely.
  1. Re-insert the old filter by twisting to the right and ensure the lock symbols line up. (Old Key design)
  1. Now we need to remove the old filter again – twist the filter in a leftwards direction only - Do not pull on the filter only twist it.
  1. The filter will naturally drop from the housing once twisted far enough.
  1. The new filter can now be installed by pushing up and twisting rightwards (clockwise) until the lock symbols line up.
