Samsung Z fold 5 Hinge issues

I had my Samsung Z fold 5 as soon as it got released in August. As my first Foldable i absolutely loved the experience but i continued to read about these phones being notoriously fragile hence i would absolutely baby my Z Fold 5. Three months in and i started noticing the hinge making this sound i wasn't used to and i also felt the phone wouldn't open completely. Although it was a very minor difference but it did alarm me. Just a week ago i open my Fold 5 and Bam. The inner display has a black line in the centre and my heart sank. I closed the phone and opened it a couple of times and eventually the touch stopped working and the more i opened and closed the hinge the worst it got. Eventually the inner display started flickering and turned green in the centre. All this happened in just one day and i had to run to O2 office to claim the warranty and they eventually replaced my phone. Mind you that the inner display had the protector intact and as i said i would absolutely baby my phone with the best case i could get.
Point is i am scared of Foldables now. It is a risky luxury but i have anxiety now everytime i open my Fold 5. If you want to get this phone without full damage cover warranty you might as well throw money in fire.

I have a fold 5 and where the hinge is the phone has two clip points where it folds and one of them has broken and come out only had the phone 5 weeks and I'm gutted I am awaiting news on repair or replacement I also have insurance with o2 full cover but when I went in store they didn't want to no and told me to speak to samsung which says u phone will be away for 2 weeks or take it to a samsung repair store which they don't promise it will be fixed on the day !

Mine was taken away for 2 weeks, and then a refurbished device was returned to me. I have already pre ordered S24 Ultra and fold phones are a no no for me

Yeah I live in Brighton nearest is Crawley 20 miles away I'm waiting for o2 to get back to me

Im experiencing the same. Bought fold for grom Giffgaff and after 1 month the phone doesen't unfold completely. They refused to repair it. Going to Ombudsman and will consider legal case against giffgaff or samsung. Will never buy samsung phone again or tv or whatever from the criminal company. they shouldn't sell those rubbish phones. Chinese phones are free from those issues and are much better.

that's the best way to describe it I just ran Into my first screen issue and even then I still love this phone #riskyluxury

i brought a Fold 5 in August last year and this week my screen has developed a black line down the middle and making it unusable, i get a display but cannot do anything with it, i have booked a repair under warranty fingers crossed it gets sorted.

I am sorry to hear that mate and hope they will fix it on warranty. If they do I would suggest to try selling it as Samsung foldables are not reliable and sooner or later it will develop another problem. As far as mine is concerned, Ombudsman is trying to help me now. I have already bought global Oppo find n3 and am happy by now. All the best.

Don't get me started. I've gone through 4 galaxy z fold 5's in 7 weeks. It's the inner screen issue every time.. a black dot and then a solid line across the screen..  EE have informed me that there is an issue and that Samsung are aware of it and attempting to fix it. For now I'll have to keep accepting the replacement devices but I do hope they sort it because I do like this phone. I did look at the oppo n3 fold but unfortunately not available in the UK.

After fixing sell samsung because it will develop the same problem or screen issue and samsung usually refuse to fix it after the first time. I got oppo find n3 (global) and vivo x100 pro (excellent camera phone) from wonda mobile as it is very reliable seller (see feedbacks).
