Stuttering on netflix?

Hi everyone I'm Getting stuttering in Netflix, like a single frame skip every second or two. It seems to be worse when having subtitles enabled. It's not as bad when subtitles are off but it does still stutter. With subtitles on it always jumps between 24, 48 and 120 fps which makes it unwatchable. It's obviously a software issue that I hope Samsung can fix in the next update. I'm not the only one with this problem.

It's due to the refresh rate dropping. If I was able to force 120hz instead of adaptive then it would sort out the problem.

But I don't see a setting for that. Not even in developer settings

I appreciate your point. Most issues are unlikely to be novel or completely unprecedented, so I'm sure this motivated Netflix to dedicate a section on its Help Centre to this exact issue (and various steps to resolve it). Please let us know when you get to the bottom of it.

It's mostly when subtitles are on that it happens. I've already contacted netflix they are basically saying the Issue is with Samsung. I do know Samsung are pretty famous for having jittery playback. I will try figure out it out. I appreciate your help.

It's due to the refresh rate dropping. If I was able to force 120hz instead of adaptive then it would sort out the problem.

I went into Developer Settings, enabled Show refresh rate and watched several minutes of Netflix.

The refresh rate changed from 120 to 48 to 24, stayed mostly on 24, and I saw no stuttering.

Just switched from an S10e to a S24 and having the exact same issue. Never experienced it on any other device before and I've used the Netflix app on at least 5 different Android devices.

Well , then I think it might be the issue which is never going to get fixed. I bought the S24 when it was released, had this issue since the day 1, posted it as a bug on Samsung members, but no one noticed.

The thing is it might not be noticeable to everyone. However, I find it extremely annoying and eventually stopped watching anything on the S24. It’s really crazy that the company like Samsung couldn’t even do the basic things.

I switched the device to another phone. So this issue no longer bothers me.

Quick tip : You can always keep your finger on the screen , then it would not skip.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! I tried the bitrate trick to see what was happening and you're right, it just keeps switching. Incredible that no one at Samsung seems to be bothered to fix it. Especially since it makes videos unwatchable and appears to be a pretty straightforward fix.

May as well switch back to my 5 year old S10E with it's super smooth video experience and 256Gb micro-SD card 😄

Unrelated, but my Samsung washing machine with 2 years of warranty also just broke down after 2,5 years. Keep up the good work guys!
