S24 Colour and Bridghtness Issue

Hi all, I recently "upgraded" from an S23 Ultra to an S24 Ultra and I am seriously considering returning the phone due to the screen issue.

I have reached out Samsung and have been told personally this is how the screen is meant to be.

I have also seen responses saying a fix us underway, but from others advised by Samsung.

I have seen testing done which suggests the DCI P3 is not 99% as with my S23 Ultra but like 85%. This would explain the muted / dull colours.

Samsung are known for great and vibrant screens, so why intentionally remove your USP?

I have tested lots of footage in Natural mode, given Vivid doesn't appear to work or make any real difference on the S24 Ultra. Netflix, YouTube and Disney Plus and apart from Disney Plus, the picture on the S23 Ultra was far far brighter with better colour saturation then on the S24 Ultra. Clearly this shouldn't be the case. I am concerned that all the so called big reviewers that got their review models early to review, didn't mention this at all. It's literally the first thing you notice when you switch the S24 Ultra on. Is it the current software AWM9 and was this rolled out after the reviewers had their samples?

Can someone in the know please confirm categorically whether the issue is hardware or software related?

I personally would keep the phone, if Samsung can provide assurances this will definitely be fixed in the near future.

The Moderators have escalated the Vivid Mode issues/Dim colours feedback and we are awaiting an official response.  However Teknófilo claims to have received a statement from Samsung Spain. The tech site received word from a Samsung Spain representative that "the display behaviour is an intentional colour adjustment and is not a product defect." Below is the purported full statement from Samsung Spain:

We have adjusted the colors and brightness of Galaxy S24 series products to provide more accurate and comfortable viewing during use. Some changes have been made to the display technology to provide a more natural viewing experience, so users may notice differences in color depth compared to older devices.
This display behavior is an intentional color adjustment and is not a product defect, so it can be used safely.
To offer our customers the best possible experience, we value your feedback and continually improve our software (UX) as the market and consumer interests evolve".   https://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s24-vivid-mode-wont-be-fixed-3410485/

Whilst natural mode provides more accurate colours think there should be a noticeable difference for those who prefer a more vivid option, with customisation being a selling point of Android would hope a fix will nonetheless may be available at some point but not guaranteed,

on the other point Members are asked to search before posting a new Thread  so there is not too much duplication and to make collation easier.  However this is often ignored, especially at times like this.

I think the key word is "claims" on

"However Teknófilo claims to have received a statement from Samsung Spain."

I have read several articles including the Spain one., but none of them have a link to an official statement from Samsung.

They confirmed that it's nothing to do with the new anti-glare glass, and this change was intentional to make screen look more natural like iPhone and Google phones. They did the same with the camera as colors are not vibrant and punchy like before anymore.

For now, the main problem is grainy and banding screen of s24u that I'm not sure they could or would ever fix it for units that are out now because it seems to be hardware issue

Someone has just received this response from Samsung Chat. Sounds like Samsung may now be confirming that the vivid screen issue will be sorted in the coming software update.1707432875632.jpg

@Legend86 This lack of vibrancy and saturation has also left me disappointed with the s24 ultra. I'm thinking of returning it and waiting for the s25 ultra or wait till an update that fixes this on the s24 ultra before placing another order. I still can't believe I prefer the display on my samsung m31 to the s24 ultra. It is quite disappointing. Samsung should please give users an option of switching back to that rich and vibrant display. If this continues onwards with their future flagships and if Apple can compete with samsung in terms of multitasking and functionality, then I'm definitely switching to an iPhone in the near future.

Has anyone noticed the color adjustment in Samsung 24 Plus? In my S24 Plus, you are unable to personalize your device. I believe that Samsung needs to consider this option for the 24 series to adjust the color based on the issue of vividness. Please, Samsung, could you please check this out and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
