My microphone turns off when my screen shuts off or I switch apps (Snapchat and Discord calls)

Same issue as this guy, the solution given did not work for me.

This used to just be an issue with Discord so I assumed it was a problem with the Discord app, but recently (just today), Snapchat also started displaying thie behavior. The other party can't hear me, but the app doesn't say my microphone is muted.

I can still switch be heard if I leave Snapchat up in picture-in-picture, but I'd rather not have to rely on that, as cluttering up my screen with picture-in-picture and preventing my screen from shutting off is annoying and unneededly drains battery.

Hi @Gaydnlmao and warm welcome 👋

It sounds incredibly frustrating to have your microphone cutting out like that, especially since it's now affecting multiple apps..

Double check app permissions like microphone go to settings > apps > select app and make sure permissions is granted

Check for voice settings within the Discord app itself. There might be options for input sensitivity, voice activity detection, or even a "Push to Talk" mode that's accidentally enabled. Same with Snapchat: Similarly, explore Snapchat's settings for any audio-related configurations.

Background noise suppression: Some phones have this feature, which can sometimes be overzealous and cut out your own voice. Look for it in your device's sound settings.

Volume levels: While it seems obvious, make sure your media and call volumes are turned up sufficiently.

Check for any dust, lint, or debris that might be blocking your phone's microphone.
* Case interference: If you use a phone case, try removing it temporarily to see if it's causing the problem.

Too many apps running in the background can sometimes cause conflicts. Close any unnecessary apps.

Reinstall the apps: If updating doesn't work, try uninstalling and then reinstalling the apps.

Test with other apps: See if the microphone works correctly in other apps like voice recording or phone calls. This will help determine if the problem is specific to Discord and Snapchat or a more general device issue.

Try safe mode.

Try clear cache of app.

Wipe cache partition of the phone.

It's where the mic fully stops working when I'm not on the call or app or it isn't open as picture in picture, I can tell because the green circle in the top right corner of my screen indicating that mic is in use dissapears. I have checked all app permissions and they're all enabled and all my apps are fully up to date
