Unfortunately the fix wE thought we had below stops working and goes back to the same issues again. I encourage everyone to contact Samsung and direct them to this post, hopefully with enough complaints they will actually fix it.

(DOESN'T WORK)
EDIT PROBLEM NOW FIXED THANKS TO SAMUEL953 (SEE HIS POST IN THE COMMENTS.) And here's a copy.

'think I have a fix... Go into Settings, Apps, click on the sort icon and enable "Show system apps". Search for "Android System Webview". When you find the app in the list, click on it and then click on Storage. There you can clear cache and clear data. You may also be able to click on the three dots and also uninstall updates to reset it to factory. Once you've done this restart the phone and the email scroll problem should be resolved. Worked for me.'

Thanks again to Samuel for posting this fix.

So over the last couple of weeks while using the Samsung email app, I'm having issues with what feels like some type of scroll lock.

I can open the app, select which email account I want to read, and can scroll with zero issues, but as soon as I try to reply to an email or compose an email it won't allow me to scroll down the screen.

I've included a screen recording of whats happening, as it will make more sense. Dont worry this is just a spam mail that isnt even using my correct email haha.

Now this happens no matter if its Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail.

Am I missing a setting somewhere that switches on some weird scroll lock? I'm just using the standard settings, and havent changed anything.

I have the latest updates and software of one UI8, but ut was also doing this before I updated.

Urggh. You are right, I've just discovered that it has come back too - after a restart when the battery went flat. The reason is the Webview app is automatically re-updating itself from the Play Store. Samsung have now confirmed that Version 142.0.7444.x has a bug. You have to roll back the Webview app again to the initial version (134.x), and, as a temporary solution, you can disable automatic updates in the Play Store app (in Settings, Network Preferences, Auto Update Apps). Samsung have now flagged the issue with Google so they should rectify this in due course and then it will be fine to re-enable automatic updates. Unfortunately it means you'll have to manually update all the other apps for a while. Hopefully it won't take Google too long to resolve.

Having the same problem will try the fix now and remove auto updates. Commenting to stay up to date if a more permanent solution is found. Thanks for the tips

The fix has now worked and then almost immediately stopped working three times for me. 😢

Perhaos this should be communicated in the original post? Samsung needs to understand situation.

When you communicated with Samsung, did you request next level support?

Maybe having the

A few people have discovered that the issue comes back after a restart. The reason is the Android System Webview app is automatically re-updating itself from the Play Store. Samsung have now confirmed that Version 142.0.7444.x has a bug. You have to roll back the Webview app again to the initial version (134.x), and, as a temporary solution, you can disable automatic updates in the Play Store app (within the app click on your account icon, then Settings, Network Preferences, then deselect Auto Update Apps). Samsung have at least acknowledged the issue with the Webview app now and have flagged it to Google for resolution as it is a Google system app. Hopefully it will be addressed before too long so we can go back to auto updates for all apps.
