Front facing camera not working

My front facing camera stopped working out of the blue. I searched the web and found the official samsung website and someone had already posted the problem so I did everything Glenntech wrote to fix it including a factory reset and clearing the cache. My front facing camera still does not work. I took my phone to my provider they said call Samsung, I did. I told Samsung about the problem and told them that I am not the only one to have this problem. The tech INSISTED this is not a "known problem" despite the existence of the posts on the official Samsung forum and dozens of other posts on several other forums on the net. After several frustrating minutes with the tech denying the existance of a broad problem he informed me my phone is a year out of warranty and there is nothing he can do.

  •  I will NEVER buy a Samsung product again, not a phone, definatly not a TV as the one I have must be reset daily to function properly, nothing. I paid well over a thousand dollars for a phone that two years later does not have a "known problem" therefore despite all the forums including the one on the Samsung official website that I "imagined" my phone's failing is not their problem. Samsung does not care about you or stand by their products, they are a greedy company I will not deal with again. Do yourself a favor buy a flip phone and a Visio TV from walmart, they will last longer.

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Forum

Your device is over 2 years old and is out of warranty. By your own admission it was working previously so although other users may have reported issues, you are still out of warranty and would have to pay for a repair. This would be the same with most items purchased from tech to cars, from televisions to laptops. Once the warranty expires, you have to pay to fix. There are users out there unhappy with pixel due to out of warranty issues, that is life so whinging about not buying Samsung again (which is your choice) doesn't cut it.

Secondly you mentioned dollars so I'm presuming you are in the US? If so we as UK customers in this forum cannot guide you on your options, perhaps best to reach out to the US Community Forum?

Hi there, sorry to hear about your experience it seems like it might be front cameras flex cable fault or something hardware related to it. Like damaged flex cable or trying to get from camera replaced, I fixed 2 s22 ultra cameras by unplugging everything around cameras and plugging it back (that requires skills or best to see phone repairs shop) sometimes it's due to numerous reasons like I've mentioned it could be just simple fic take phone apart then unplug front cameras flex cable put back on or readjusting camera from inside or replacing to new one.

The exact response I would have expected from Samsung.

Hi @Heckercm

I'm disheartened to hear of the issues your currently experiencing with your phone  😔

In the UK Samsung provides a Limited 2 Year Manufacturer's Warranty albeit this does not cover accidental damage.

Samsung offers Samsung Care+ at an additional option and charge.

Personally I have my phone's covered under my Home Contents Insurance,  and some bank accounts provide cover as a perk of the account.

I totally understand that some may not think about how long the phone's are covered for, until it becomes apparent when needing suppprt down the line.

Usually Networks offer insurance options at the time of taking out  / renewing a contract so the consumer then makes an informed decision to accept or not.

Samsung would potentially charge a fee for out of warranty repairs,  or if the phone is accidentally damaged.

In the UK there is also the Consumer Rights Act 2015 ,that is in place to support both the consumer and merchant.

As @Piper123 has stated this is predominantly a user to user discussion forum where members help and advise and indeed discuss products.

See my signature below my reply 😎

However you decide to proceed I wish you all the best.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
