Hello,
I have the G9 OLED for two days and have really lousy problems:
- when I start a game in fullscreen mode with the native resolution of 5120x1440, the monitor sometimes shuts down. There's no way to restore the image until I'm somehow able to either blindly quit the game or restart the PC - sometimes only the reset button helps.
- When starting certain apps or fullscreen applications, I hear a sound like a device is connecting and disconnecting. I also hear this randomly - it stopped, when I disconnected the USB cable from the monitor and ramains happening when I start full screen applications and exit them.
- I randomly have black screens every now and then without doing anything specific. And quite extreme: If I watch a video via any media player, enter fullscreen and move the mouse, the screen goes black for 3 seconds and then returns. If I move the mouse again, the screen goes black again. This goes on and on.
- I am using an RTX 4090 with this monitor. When I set it to 240 Hz, the GPU memory clock rate is not downclocked when the PC is idle. That means the GPU memory clock (not GPU clock) is always running at max clock, which is not ideal for power consumption and temperatures.
I use a Display Port 1.4 cable with 32.4 Gbit/s, but also have an HDMI 2.1 cable with 48 gbit/s. This happens with both cables. As soon as I lower the monitor Hz to 120, the memory MHz goes back to the correct idle value, as it should. Is this a normal behavior?
- when I turn off VRR on the monitor, it is no longer possible to set the native resolution.
The monitor is running on the latest firmware version 1023.
These are honestly such massive problems that I am almost determined to return this monitor to Samsung as soon as possible.
Any input from more experienced Samsung users who have been able to remedy these issues?
Thanks so much!

Yep - you can't even use HDMI, because DSC is perma-on. To be fair, nvidia is partly to blame for their DSC implementation.
I can't say I will notice the 8 vs 10-bit colour, and I will never be using HDR.
But I hope pixel shift will be disable-able in the next firmware...

FYI - RTINGS plans to look into these issues during their new test methodology with the OLED G9....
"Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
Unfortunately, we have a long list of testing and retesting to do, so it’s hard to say for sure when we’ll be able to look into this. However, we plan on taking a look once we update this monitor to our newest test methodology, likely within the next couple weeks!"

Joining the club as my purchased in Oct of 2023 G9 OLED appears to have failed yesterday. All I get is a black screen, even when trying to reach the "in-display" smart apps. I can hear the apps coming out of the speakers on the monitor, and I can use the Netflix, D+, Prime, etc hotkeys to switch from app to app, but the display never "turns on".
I'm taking it in the Best Buy (where I purchased) to see what they can do before pursuing a warranty claim with Samsung.

I just started having this issue as well. This is completely unacceptable. I went thru new cables with somewhat. success but it still happens usually when I exit back to desktop from playing games.

Best Buy wanted a deductible, even though I just purchased it in October of '23, plus 3 weeks for return time.
I called Samsung and scheduled an on-site / @ Home appointment for Friday.

It feels like it's getting worse by the day for me - I don't think I can play anything at this point without the screen just going blank during gameplay. I'm at the latest FW, graphics driver, and monitor driver that Samsung has released for this unit and still, this thing absolutely is hating having to do things at its advertised spec, it falls on its face whenever 5120x1440 @240HZ 10B over DP is engaged. Don't get me started at the 'seizures' this monitor has when launching games or even exiting them because it can't seem to find the right resolution/hz or whatever it's doing as the screen is flashing in and out.

Swap DP with HDMI 2.1 cable, the monitor will works better, some random black screen, but better than DP.
If you don't want any black screen with HDMI cable you must use the 120hz settings or disable G-Sync.
Use Cinebench 2024 tool, "single core test" to test the new settings and verify if random black screen still occured.

Random Black screen is an indication of faulty panels
If you must use a lower refresh rate and/or disable G-Sync then it is a faulty panel

I can confirm I get sudden black screens for ~5 seconds using firmware 1006.3 on G9 OLED LS49CG930SNXZA, it was previosuly not happening on 1004.0 I believe. I tested everything, certified 16K DP cables even, still same issue. I read it might be a DP thing, I just switched to 2.1 HDMI to test

Anyone tried the newest firmware?
