Hello,
I have the G9 OLED for two days and have really lousy problems:
- when I start a game in fullscreen mode with the native resolution of 5120x1440, the monitor sometimes shuts down. There's no way to restore the image until I'm somehow able to either blindly quit the game or restart the PC - sometimes only the reset button helps.
- When starting certain apps or fullscreen applications, I hear a sound like a device is connecting and disconnecting. I also hear this randomly - it stopped, when I disconnected the USB cable from the monitor and ramains happening when I start full screen applications and exit them.
- I randomly have black screens every now and then without doing anything specific. And quite extreme: If I watch a video via any media player, enter fullscreen and move the mouse, the screen goes black for 3 seconds and then returns. If I move the mouse again, the screen goes black again. This goes on and on.
- I am using an RTX 4090 with this monitor. When I set it to 240 Hz, the GPU memory clock rate is not downclocked when the PC is idle. That means the GPU memory clock (not GPU clock) is always running at max clock, which is not ideal for power consumption and temperatures.
I use a Display Port 1.4 cable with 32.4 Gbit/s, but also have an HDMI 2.1 cable with 48 gbit/s. This happens with both cables. As soon as I lower the monitor Hz to 120, the memory MHz goes back to the correct idle value, as it should. Is this a normal behavior?
- when I turn off VRR on the monitor, it is no longer possible to set the native resolution.
The monitor is running on the latest firmware version 1023.
These are honestly such massive problems that I am almost determined to return this monitor to Samsung as soon as possible.
Any input from more experienced Samsung users who have been able to remedy these issues?
Thanks so much!

I just tried enabling G-Sync and even know in the monitors settings it shows VRR is off, when looking in the game bar menu and info screen it shows VRR is on.

Yesterday Samsung offered me a refund for the monitor, I don't know what to do because the problem rarely occurs and the new G9 2024 has not yet been presented.

I have the same issue with *2* brand new monitors G7 on two different PC.
I have one monitor that has been in services for a over a month now with no change or solution.
I'm going to ask for a full refund on both monitors and these monitors are simply not UP TO SPECS, terrible quality control or using terrible components.
I have tried to reach out to customer support to imply this is a firmware or main line hardware problems. But they just don't care about finding a solution to this issue.
They only way I feel Samsung will even budge to listen to us is to hurt them where it hurts more.
- Buy new monitors from Amazon
- Return within 30 days until stocks are exhausted due to black screen issues
I tho Samsung would be competent enough to make gaming monitors since of some of their TV but boy I was wrong.... And now they want in the AI market and failed with their specs. They can't even make a proper monitor how do you expect them to survive in the AI market.

You are absolutely right there. Someone like Steve from Gamers Nexus would be a godsend on this issue. Look how he tore a new one for Asus
I will NEVER buy another Samsung product again after this fiasco. I used to have a Samsung TV. I never had a problem with it, but after all this BS with the G95SC I went and replaced it with an LG OLED. I have both the S8 and S9 Ultra Tablets. I won't be getting another when they release them.

I just discovered an even bigger issue with this monitor. It will not display the BIOS screen for my Asus X670E Hero. Whenever I try to get into the BIOS, a message will come up on the screen saying there was an error with the connected device to the smart monitor with a countdown to enter standby.

I solved it for my monitor - touch wood: the problem is DSC.
Set the colour depth to 8-bit and the refresh rate to no more than 240 Hz - this will disable DSC.

So we pay for a true 10-bit panel, but can't use it? This is one benefit of HDR.
I will give this a try later tonight.

If you're having these issues you need to get Samsung Service to replace the panel (or the whole monitor). Replacing the panel was the only solution that worked for my G93SC. Don't accept workarounds like disabling VRR or HDR.
When functioning as promised, these monitors are fantastic! And there are no comparable alternatives with similar specs. So, get it fixed asap via Samsung in-home service, or return it if you can't stand the hassle.

I have more anger to Samsung than most. I paid £2000 for this monitor as a preorder. Just before I received my monitor, the price had dropped to about £1600. I accepted this. The only way I can get this monitor to work is to set Nvidia control panel to 120Hz. I will hypothesise......Samsung tried to get an OLED panel to refresh at 240Hz with Gsync compatibility. They failed. Their arrogance and incompetence has led to this debacle. They CANNOT get an OLED panel to work at 240Hz with Gsync compatibility. Samsung are LYING to us. This panel will work, intermittently, at the stated refresh rates......for a while!! Do not buy this panel if you expect the stated refresh rates and resolution.
