I'm going to share a recent experience I had with a M4 Macbook pro 2024 and monitor G9 Odyssey OLED (2023). It suddently stop receiving video signal and the monitor screen was all black. Fortunately, I was able to fix it. I share this with you in case I can help someone to avoid going crazy.

I use my  monitor with a screen ratio of 32:9 with my computer which I bought like 4 months ago.  One day I was working, then had lunch and when I got back the monitor was just blackout. The menu was working just fine but is like it was not receiving any video signal from the computer. On the mac side, the system settings -> displays wasn't recognizing it. The only option I saw available was mirroring.

Things I've tried and didn't work:

  • Try safe mode in mac and test the connection
  • Resetting NVRAM (holding command + option + R + P)
  • Run diagnotics test (The funny thing with this, is that the monitor was receiving signal. I was able to see the test also on the monitor screen)
  • Connecting the cable in different ports
  • Upgrade MacOS to latest version
  • Rebooting, shutdown, etc

I was very frustrated until I tried the following:

The monitor goes to game mode every time is connected to the computer. I've opened the game mode menu (holding play/pause button on remote) and change the screen ratio from 32:9 to 16:9. After that, the mac was recognizing the monitor! I did it again to go back to 32:9 and voila!

Problem solved. It took me only 7 hours (is too much!)

I have no idea what happened. Anyways, I hope this will be helpful to someone out there!
