Q990c SmartThings connection issues

I have the Q990c soundbar, and the sound profile in Atmos is absolutely incredible. But like so many other people, it keeps “going offline”, disconnecting from WiFi and needing to be deleted from SmartThings and re-added so I can utilise the app and wireless features of the soundbar.

Has anyone found a sure fire way of keeping this from happening?

Same here. Can’t change the WIFI connection to 2.4 GHz or disable WPA3 to overcome this issue. This is the only device that keeps disconnecting, seems a Firmware update is needed to fix this issue. Also it should be possible to set a fixed IP address or connection speed from the SmartThings app.

I’m also having the same issue with this model. Very frustrating.

Hello All, you might want to try installing the smart things hub on the soundbar. It keeps the soundbar ‘alive’ on the wifi router. Since I did this the issue no longer presented itself. Hope this works for you as well.

I’m having the same issue but now the smart things app won’t even find the WiFi networks.  I have numerous other devices connected to the WiFi including a Samsung TV

Try factory reset first on the soundbar, it should pop up after that, install both options (soundbar + hub). I haven’t had any problems since and it must be said great sound experience.

Any solution?

There is an obvious fault with the 5ghz connectivity on this soundbar. Difficult to know whether it's a software or hardware issue.

However, I found that it is stable on 5ghz when using low 5ghz channel numbers. I encountered frequent disconnects whenever my WiFi was using the higher 5ghz channel numbers.

If you can, make sure your 5ghz WiFi is using the lower channels.

Hope this helps!

Samsung soundbars are absolutely terrible. And Samsung customer service is even worse.

There is a major problem with the qn990c soundbar. And they know this but still sold them to the public. A lawsuit should be taking on behalf of the public who where sold the useless faulty products. Should of brought a Sony, or bose soundbar.

Yup, I confirm that the issue is still here, even after the manual USB firmware upgrade. 😞
