Fall detection is only triggered if it detects a sudden and hard fall / impact, such as a trip. The feature isn't disabled during sleep mode but it's also highly unlikely it will trigger, but may be beneficial if you did fall in the night or down steps.

I've had the 5 Pro since day, had a few seizures whilst sleeping and it hasn't kicked into fall detection so far. But it did when I had one out on the street. So I'm very happy with its ability to differentiate currently. My only concern is the longer term ability as its approaching 12 months old now. I've not seen any data on the reliability of the sensors over the longer term.

@JB9500: If you're worried about sudden movements triggering the Fall Detection feature while you sleep, then you may wish to disable the 'High sensitivity' option (SOS > Detect Falls > High sensitivity).

Now I know it will occur in sleep unless I fall off the bed I'm fine of keeping it on as it is highly beneficial I just wanted to see how it worked and if it ever disabled itself in sleep

Mine has gone off twice in the last month in sleep mode.  I was woken from a dead sleep both times with my hands between my knees, so there was zero way for me to have triggered it.

Hi - I could not find 'SOS > Detect Falls > High sensitivity' option in my Galaxy Watch 4 classic. Could you please confirm if this feature is indeed available ? If so where to find it on my watch or on the wearable app on my phone. This is very important for me as I am testing fall detection for my app and need a high sensitive option. Currently, it is extremely hard to trigger a fall. It used to work by hard clapping but it does not anymore like that and neither it does work if I fall on a bed on the floor(mimicking hard fall)  and staying still for 30+ seconds.
