Hi all,

I have had my Samsung TV for roughly 12 months and have had no problems plugging my Seagate HDD into the USB slot and watching movies. Untill recently it has started coming up 'no content found'. It works on other TV's and is fine on my computer. It also powers up the hard drive and comes up with the option in the source menu so I don't think it's a power issue. Have tried both USB slots and with and without a USB extender. Any help would be great

Thanks

Thanks Jonh....same with me. Samsung has lost me as a customer too. I will never buy another Samsung TV and I will recommend to others to not buy their TVs. A Samsung CSR tried to tell me today that I had too many apps installed on the TV and that the TV has only a certain amount of memory and that is why the TV is saying no content found on my 1TB HDD. Complete bull***t!

Finally, I received a solution from Samsung today and it works 100%. I am going to copy and paste the exact e-mail their tech support sent me. Finally! I think this will fix your issues with no content found on HDD. Really HTH everyone with this very frustrating issue.

"Here is the software update link and steps to follow for you to update it. *When the file has finished downloading, locate it and then unzip the file. There should be one folder inside. 1.Copy or Move the folder to a USB flash drive and do not place it inside any other folders. If you place the software folder inside a folder on the USB drive, the TV will not find it. 2.Connect the USB drive containing the software upgrade into a USB port on your TV. 3.Using your TV's remote, navigate to Settings, and select Support. Select Software Update, select Update Now, and then select Yes. Your TV will search the USB drive for update files. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the updated software. Updates usually take a few minutes; please do not turn off the TV until the update is complete. When the update is finished, the TV will restart automatically http://96.225.62.17:5069/sharing/uqUxTzCIk

That is good my friend. 👍 A movie did get stuck playing on my WD 1TB HDD for some reason and I had to do a power reset by just pressing the power button on the samsung remote and do not release until the TV turns off and back on again. All seems ok now.  If anything changes, I will be sure and come back here and let everyone know. <cheers>

They had you download a zip file to your PC from an unknown IP address that is not even on a Samsung domain?  Sorry for being suspicious here, but how does someone know this file is safe to download?

I understand and appreciate your concern. I did contact Samsung personally. The samsung tech had me try some of the things already mentioned in this thread (over the telephone) to no avail. I examined the e-mail personally and very carefully. I scanned the zip file for malware after I downloaded to my PC.  The file was clean. Below is a screenshot header from my Gmail account. I can't be 100% certain but how did Samsung know my personal first and last name and my exact Gmail address. I did give them this personal information when I contacted them. I am as safe as they come when it comes to stuff like this. trust me. I will actually call up Samsung tomorrow and ask them and I will come back here and post what they tell me. My TV is still working ok now after the firmware update.

Here is more of the gmail e-mail header if you'd like to analyze. I do not personally know what a lot of this stuff means. I did delete my personal e-mail address from the copy and paste..
