Hi there,

Just got a new UE43CU7020.
I’m getting strange pixel type effects on the screen.

I’m using it with a Sky Q Mini Box and standard HDMI lead. I did an update and it went. But when turned back off and on again it was there again. I’ve unplugged the TV and again it had gone but came back when turned off and on again.
I’ve searched high and low for another example of this online but can’t seem to.
Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community!

To me, this seems like a problem with the cable. Try using another cable.

Also, try this (found online):

First, try rebooting the main Q box and then, when this is completely back up and running, reboot the mini.

To reboot, press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug it from the mains. Wait at least 30 seconds and then plug it back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.

Wait for the on-screen instructions to disappear and the front LED to turn amber. Then wait for 30 seconds before you press Home on your Sky Q remote, or if this is not working, press the standby button on the front of the Q box (amber LED).

To confirm, does this happen on any other devices? Let's say you go to the main screen on your TV (not the box but the built-in settings on the TV)—is it still there?

Hi @Gary Penfold and warm welcome 👋

It looks like it might be HDMI cable issue.

Try disconnect HDMI cable and reconnect it again, or try different HDMI cable.

Hi @Gary Penfold Looks like it may well be an HDMI cable issue. However if you establish that the problem is only on the Sky Q Mini a few other steps to conduct after rebooting Main Box/Mini if the issue remains.

Try a Network Reset on the Mini,Home-Settings-Set up-Network.   Highlight status and select Reset, follow instructions to WPS with the main Skyq Box.

can be interference if wireless equipment is within 1 metre of the Skyq Mini.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Thank you for the responses and support.
I have had a new Sky Mini box delivered today for another room so have tried that and the new HDMI lead and still doing it.
I have performed the full reset on the main box and mini box but no luck.
I’ve also used the TV with no HDMI lead and the dots are still there and on the TV Home Screen.

Do I simply have a faulty TV?

Then yes. I'm sorry to say this seems to be either a software or, most likely, a hardware issue. Maybe attempt a factory reset on the device. If the issue remains, it may be worth contacting Samsung support; it may need repair.

And I doubt this helps but even though the dots are white, they don’t appear on any black areas of the screen.
