This is doing my head in. After the recent updates to the 4K firestick it is now being detected by my mothers 2020 TU8000 as an Apple TV.
Anyone else had this issue?
I've tried different ports, one will just say unknown device, HDMI CEC on and off, unplug, replug, power off, power on.
Messed with the firestick TV settings, NOTHING works.

This is just crazy.
I'm not factory resetting the TV. Samsung's backup is useless, I still have to re-enter all my login details for all the TV apps and that takes far too long.

As a result because of this nonsense I cannot get the remote to control the Firestick.

I dont get this issue on my 2019 Samsung TV.

Guys - this thread is about correct device detection on the TVs and not frame rates - please start your own thread if you want to discuss frame rate issues, and not hijack etc

(we all getting the updates)

It is my thread thanks.

Have you enabled advanced options in dev tools though, so you can see the actual frame rate of the video in the right hand panel?

I would suggest starting your own thread on this as Lizardman81 suggests as it is derailing this thread somewhat.

2023 and it’s still a pain. Just occurred out of know where after a few years of working fine. Remote stopped working and when restarting FireStick its now identified as a AppleTV.
after reading this whole thread, I got the remote working by deleting the AppleTV entry from The Universal Control menu. The HDMI port didn’t pick up FireStick but just labelled as unknown. Pulling the HDMI plug and reattaching it all bounced back to how it was.
