This probably means the phone is still being allocated to the order @paulj33a
Unfortunately people's expected delivery dates have slipped especially with the exclusive colours.
If the phone is due for delivery then a person gets notifications from Samsung and from DPD with tracking information.
Download the DPD App as this is useful to be aware of what's happening with delivery.

After a short period of time from creating the order the cancel button is removed as the order is under process.

Samsung as far as I'm aware are not holding back orders due to any reason.
There is no recall and nor are they swamped.
Not everyone is having problems with their Samsung Galaxy s ²² Series.
Mine is working great.
What we see on forums is a small % of owners thoughts and concerns as most people don't sign upto a forum to say they are happy with their phone to give a true balance on what's going on.
Exclusive colour choices have always come hand in hand with delayed delivery schedules.
Flagship phone's no matter whether they are from Samsung or other manufacturers also come hand in hand with delays.
In the UK a person has 21 days to try out the phone and can return it for any reason within these 21 days for a full refund if they are not happy.
I appreciate it's frustrating having to wait.
