The Samsung Upgrade programme means that you can have always have the latest Galaxy phone.

A finance programme that allows you to get the latest Galaxy phone every 12 months, while only paying for a percentage of the phone’s value.

How it works

SachikoT_0-1644434217617.png

Just three easy steps

  1. You pay 10% of the phone’s price upfront,
  2. Then you pay 23 equal monthly instalments, equivalent to 70% of the phone’s price split into 23 payments,
  3. At the final 24th final instalment, equivalent to 20% of the phone’s price, so you can choose between:
    • Returning the phone for upgrade and upgrade to the latest Galaxy phone after 12 months, and have a 4-month window to upgrade. If you do not upgrade in the 4-month window, i.e. between the 12th and 16th month, you then have to wait until month 24 to upgrade.
    • Keeping your phone and walk away

How quickly do I have to send my old phone after upgrading?

Once your new device is sent, you will be sent a separate pre-paid packaging for your returns so that you can return your old device to Samsung for free. You have 7 days to transfer your data and send it back to us

What should I do before I send my old phone to Upgrade?

  1. Back up your files including photos and any other data and migrate any data you need to your new device
  2. Remove any your lock screen security (Biometrics/Password/Pin/Pattern)
  3. Remove your Google and Samsung Accounts
  4. Factory data reset the device to remove your personal information
  5. Remove your SIM and any memory cards
  6. Pack the device, (charger, the box and accessories if you have them) into the pre-paid packaging sent to you.

Can I change from one series to another?

At the moment, it is not possible to switch from one series to another on the Samsung Upgrade Programme. We have relayed to the business that there is interest in switching between the series on the Upgrade Programme.

Now... this strikes me as a cool idea. Though sky do something similar, but hidden in the terms and conditions say that the upgrade is subject to estimated handset value. So, I'm in a position to upgrade my s20 but owe 400 on it, they want they want 200£ from me and the phone back to upgrade. Thus value of my phone.. 200??!!... but if i sold it, I'd get almost double that on ebay. Can you confirm if Samsung also has this clause?

If you have the S20 you aren't upgrading at this stage. Only those on the s21 are upgrading. You are effectively just trading in some value against the new Upgrade Programme contract.

When trying to pay deposit for Samsung S22 upgrade programme I get 'We were unable to process your card.', I have now tried four cards with the same result, multiple times. Each time Klarna do a soft search on my Transunion credit reference. Each new attempt to purchase also results in a hard search on my Transunion credit reference.

I would like to use the Samsung Upgrade programme, as I have in the past years, but this is damaging my credit rating! Looks like I will have to stick with my S21 Ultra for another year and will most likely be my last Samsung phone. Unable to resolve with Samsung or Klarna support.

A hard credit check happens when a company makes a complete search of your credit report. Each hard check is recorded on your report, so any company searching it will be able to see that you’ve applied for credit. Too many hard credit checks over a short period of time can affect your credit score for six months, reducing your ability to get approved for credit in the future.

The more credit applications you make, the more hard checks will appear on your credit report, and the greater effect it will have on your credit score and likelihood of getting credit in the future.

Thank you Samsung!

We're sorry to hear you're having an issue with the Upgrade Programme, @MobileGuru . You've mentioned that you have been in touch with Klarna Customer Services available at: https://www.klarna.com/uk/customer-service/. We'd like to escalate this on your behalf - can you Private Message @Sam_UK with some details about your policy so that we can get this moving.

@Curr946, We're unsure of the Sky offering that you are talking about, but do advise that if a product is damaged it needs to be fixed by one of our Authorised Service partners to continue eligibility on the programme. Check out the full details of the Samsung Upgrade Programme on our website.

@CarlH. Looks like there's an issue upgrading for a whole batch of people who received incorrect emails on 14.01.22 advising the upgrade window was open. Can you help to escalate if not already done?
