The Samsung Upgrade programme means that you can have always have the latest Galaxy phone.

A finance programme that allows you to get the latest Galaxy phone every 12 months, while only paying for a percentage of the phone’s value.

How it works

SachikoT_0-1644434217617.png

Just three easy steps

  1. You pay 10% of the phone’s price upfront,
  2. Then you pay 23 equal monthly instalments, equivalent to 70% of the phone’s price split into 23 payments,
  3. At the final 24th final instalment, equivalent to 20% of the phone’s price, so you can choose between:
    • Returning the phone for upgrade and upgrade to the latest Galaxy phone after 12 months, and have a 4-month window to upgrade. If you do not upgrade in the 4-month window, i.e. between the 12th and 16th month, you then have to wait until month 24 to upgrade.
    • Keeping your phone and walk away

How quickly do I have to send my old phone after upgrading?

Once your new device is sent, you will be sent a separate pre-paid packaging for your returns so that you can return your old device to Samsung for free. You have 7 days to transfer your data and send it back to us

What should I do before I send my old phone to Upgrade?

  1. Back up your files including photos and any other data and migrate any data you need to your new device
  2. Remove any your lock screen security (Biometrics/Password/Pin/Pattern)
  3. Remove your Google and Samsung Accounts
  4. Factory data reset the device to remove your personal information
  5. Remove your SIM and any memory cards
  6. Pack the device, (charger, the box and accessories if you have them) into the pre-paid packaging sent to you.

Can I change from one series to another?

At the moment, it is not possible to switch from one series to another on the Samsung Upgrade Programme. We have relayed to the business that there is interest in switching between the series on the Upgrade Programme.

How long after they receive the old phone back does it take them to check it and inform Klarna?

I'm thinking of joining the upgrade programme but need a little help understanding how it works, if I join do I get the free Buds Pro and Disney+?, if I join and say go for the S22 standard phone next year can I upgrade to the S23 Ultra? Do you get the charger etc in the box and also do you get the free gifts each year? And finally does anybody think its a good deal or should I just get the phone on finance and pay it off instead I'm confused and unsure what to do, I want the Ultra but its £38 on the upgrade programme whereas on finance it works out cheaper

So the answer to pretty much everything you asked is Yes.

You cannot however join the upgrade programme and then in 6 months when/if they brought out a new fold, upgrade to that. It has to be whatever phone comes out around this time next year.

Regarding the "worth" of the programme over buying outright it is up to you. I'm not sure how finance can be cheaper though, they are selling the phone at RRP and not charging any interest over the 2 years. How are you getting it cheaper than that elsewhere?

It's worth looking at what they will give you for your old phone as well. My gf had an old Huwaei P20 with cracked screen and they gave her £260 for it if she traded in for the Ultra. You cannot trade in when joining the upgrade programme however. Only when buying outright. (She still uses the finance option).

We are actually a decent example of both options. I am in the upgrade programme and pay £34 per month for the Ultra. She traded in her old phone and just pays monthly, I believe around £24 per month but over 36 years as opposed to my 2 year deal.

Ok thanks for the reply I think the reason finance is cheaper is because its over 36 month and not 24 month which I had just realised after posting 🙄, I had the trade in deal for my P30 Pro but cancelled it last week to upgrade to the Ultra but Samsung took the offer off and wouldn't honour the offer so they now will only offer me £50 😥, so that's why I'm looking at other alternatives either way I'll unfortunately be paying more for my device but the fact I can upgrade each year is a bit of a sweetener 👍 so I think I will join the upgrade programme thanks again for clearing up some of my noob questions 👌

Don't believe them they are lying to you. The upgrade programme is broken and they don't even care about loyal customers.

Well after my third cancelled upgrade order (after they told me it would go through) I'm done with Samsung mobile. Been with them for about 7 years upgrading even when the upgrades were marginal and now they've s***** on me once too often.

Just ordered an iPhone 13 Pro form the UK Apple store on two years interest free credit and it sailed through. I get a bonus in June so will probably pay it off early. I've agreed to sell the S21 to a friend for £350 and the Galaxy watch 4 for about £80 so that more than settles the Klarna account.

I've still got my old Galaxy Watch 3 and I paired it with an old iPhone 6S and it works flawlessly. Should be even better on my new iPhone 13. Before Samsung cancelled my order the shipping date was 11th April whereas my new iPhone is arriving in two days. I was the last bastion of Android in my family now we're all Apple fans.

TBH Samsung customer service is the worst I've ever encountered. You get through to the Philippines who have no idea how to answer your queries. Will never ever ever buy another Samsung product. I bought a new Samsung TV and soundbar last year on a good deal but when I replace them in a couple of years I'm going LG or Sony.
