No Microphone in Messages app since android 14 update.

Since my Galaxy S21 FE installed the android 14 update, the microphone button is no longer available when using the Messages app.  I have searched for and performed all the troubleshooting steps I could find without success.  The app does have permission to access the microphone and I've tried with both the Samsung and Google keyboards.

The microphone is available and functioning properly with all other apps on the phone.

Where do you go to get to those screens in the screenshots as the Messages microphone is still missing on my phone and access is turned on? Thank you!

@Marissa Ivy: The microphone symbol should be visible in the bottom left corner of your screen whenever you open the Samsung Keyboard. If you can't see it, head to Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > Voice input, and select 'Samsung voice input' or 'Google Voice Typing'.

If you can see a keyboard symbol in the bottom left corner instead of a microphone, then you can press and hold on the keyboard symbol and select 'Voice input' from here.

Hi, which screenshots in particular are you asking about. If the microphone icon is missing then is it showing as a keyboard instead. If so then long press on it and toggle on Voice input.
If you can't see any icon at all then goto settings >general management >Samsung keyboard settings >Voice input. Toggle on Samsung voice input

I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra and have the same issue, missing microphone icon in my Messages app.  Used to have it but it's been missing for a while now.  I've tried all of the above but to no avail.  Any additional help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! Thank you for the note. Unfortunately, I have tried those things to no avail. I just re-input the same settings and now the app is crashing. No microphone is showing up even having tried both the Samsung and Google keyboard and ensuring Voice Input is on. As about 90% of my message prior to the icon/capability disappearing--it's super frustrating. Thank you again for your help!

I've rebooted my phone and Messages is continuing to crash AND there's still no microphone so things are regressing, unfortunately! BTW, for those who are assisting--there is no keyboard icon/button to push on the on-screen keyboard either so there is nothing to toggle.

The microphone icon now appears at the extreme bottom left corner of my screen in Messages. It is in a new position, below the entire keyboard.

Unfortunately, none of the suggested options worked and Messages is now crashing 100% of the time plus there is no microphone (or keyboard) icon to be seen. I have temporarily switched over to a different messaging app with a white "talk bubble" surrounded by a red circle and there IS a microphone icon there. I have Gboard turned on though the old, troublesome app remains on the home screen so working on that. So frustrating.

Can you post a screenshot showing your entire keyboard and screen?

I use Google messages on my S21 Ultra.  Microphone icon used to be on keyboard on icon row above my number keys but is now gone.  As a note, the icon also disappeared on my Samsung Messages app keyboard.

So I went to General management>Samsung Keyboard settings>Reset to default settings>Reset keyboard settings

I now have the microphone icon on the bottom left of my keyboard.

I'm happy, I'll take it!  Hope this helps someone.
