Since my Galaxy S21 FE installed the android 14 update, the microphone button is no longer available when using the Messages app. I have searched for and performed all the troubleshooting steps I could find without success. The app does have permission to access the microphone and I've tried with both the Samsung and Google keyboards.
The microphone is available and functioning properly with all other apps on the phone.

Have done all this previously, the above screen shot is how it was already set, just as an experiment, I set it to "None", exited settings then went back in and set is above...

OK, I am suuuupppppeeeerrrr embarrassed! So previously it was in the bar of icons just above the numbers on the keyboad. Now, that you've pointed it out to me and the way I hold my phone, it was hidden by the thumb portion of my palm. I just simply could NOT see it!
Thanks for your time and patience!

After the update I was using the microphone in the lower left until that disappeared as well. 6/2/24. Did they move it again. I have gone to Samsung keyboard / voice input and tried both samsung voice input and google voice typing each time I restarted the phone. There is still no microphone.

Thank you so much. The space was blank but i was able to toggle the keyboard icon from settings to on, thus putting the 🎹 keyboard in its place. The long press on it doesn't default it back to the 🎤 microphone but it does give me the option to use the voice input. It's one extra click but I can live with that.

Your post helped me. I had the same issue and was looking for the icon in the area where it was last located.
