sadly i thought it is a software issue as well but it is a hardware thing!!!
there are 2 small flex cables or devices under the main screen that goes faulty or moves and prevents it from 180 deg open and sound. But though Samsung knows about it and Youtube is full with this error when you go to a Samsung lab they say they know nothing and you should replace the screen... which cost like a new phone - no more Sam for me

Thank you for this! At least, the moment I go to my Samsung center appointment, I have knowledge about what the problem is with my phone. this is so frustrating!

Yes, that's exactly what's just happened to my phone

After the 01.06.2024 update (One UI 6.1 Android 1) both screens work like before but the sound problem remains. I am sure it's all software problems.

Same here. Samsung updates messed up my phone.

I am experiencing the same including all the problems listed in the replies. Talked to support but they told me to go to samsung service center. There I was told that it was the first time they heard about the problems. I confronted the service advisor about this thread but she just ignored it and told me I have to pay half the price of the phone to replace the LCD and hinge despite the fact that this problem happened because of the update. She also suggested for me to trade in to a newer phone. The heck.

I have just experienced exactly the same problem where my sound has gone when unfolding my z3.
As an iphone client of many years I purchased this very expensive device due to a visual issue which makes it difficult for me to read small print on a normal size phone.
This, what appears to be an unfixable problem (unless at even further great expense and inconvenience) sounds like it is not being addressed by SAMSUNG.
If this is the case, it is a totally unacceptable scenario and would force me to change back to an iphone or other device.....not to mention spread the word re SAMSUNG's refusal to take responsibility forcwhat is clearly a common factory fault on their device.
A bit like a Toyota not taking responsibility for a recall on faulty brakes in a model of toyota vehicle.
