Notification sounds but no notification

Recently i have been hearing sounds on my phone like i have received messages but when i check the notification centre nothing is there. Any ideas why this might be ?

You might have an application or applications with the sound notifications turned on but not the pop-up notifications.
Others could be systems notifications, as explained above, that you have not enabled, i.e. pop-ups; all you could hear is a sound notification and the pop-up not being displayed.
I'd advise you to check your settings or download an app (Nice Catch) in the Goodluck module to help you with this.

You have to go into each app...it is a painstaking process. Please follow these steps. You can get this by going to your
1. Settings
2. Notifications
3. App notifications: There you can see all the current/recent notifications. You can check notification by clicking on each app to see if the notifications are enabled

The sound even comes through on do not disturb, it's driving me mad

The phone clearly has a problem. I have been in all settings.  Nearly all my apps are silenced.  I have turned off system apps.  It dings almost every minute but no notification appears.  This does not appear to be in the phone owners control and appears to be a software defect.

That STILL doesn't shut it up.  Clearly a software problem.

Then, I'd advise you to check your system's app. I bet your device isn't faulty.

Have you got the GoodLuck application? If you have, you can download the Nice Catch, and this will help you with sounds and vibrations. This application will give you a list of any mysterious vibrations or sounds

So , i have the same problem . I've installed nice catch and i managed to find out that there is a notification from Android System , more exactly the Side Button . I don't know what to do from here ... i've tryed different methods from online posts like erasing the cache memory from safe mode... nothing changed , its really annoying .
