2 Fold 4 ordered and both have had hinges repaired within months. Samsung refused to repair the latest hinge fault (same issue - won't fold flat and screen protector delaminating) claiming warranty was voided by scratches on the phone body and a chip at a corner of the screen, quoting all repairs, including the hinge must be paid for. Total £619!

Same, So on my phone the Dust protector came off and i could peel stringes out, due to that the hinch started to block and i could only open for 90° i sent in for warranty they refused beacuse my phone had 1 single scratch avoiding warranty, makes 0 sense this scratch is not even related to the damage inside! so i wrote then a email + statement if they reject it i gonna file a report against them for scamming ( Switzerlande )

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK Community Forum

There are many posts on here about Samsung foldable devices and their hinges.

How did you pay for your device? If by CREDIT card and if you are based in the UK, go for a Section 75 claim via your card company would be my thought.

I assume the " chip at the corner of the screen " has led Samsung to assess the phone, and found this to be possible impact damage that could have damaged the hinge system 🤔

Did they provide a detailed assessment report and what did it exactly state.

May I assume you do not have any other forms of insurance such as Samsung Care+, Home Contents Insurance, or some bank accounts provide cover as a perk of the account.

If not then it maybe beneficial to take a 👀 at > Consumer-Rights-Act-2015 for further support guidance.

I wish you all the best with this @Members_jwVq4BA

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

The foldable phones are a scam and samsung knows it. Report after report of failed hinges, and this is basically due to the fact that we're all unwittingly field testing these devices because they are not really fit for purpose. My perfect condition flip 4 stopped working properly on the hinge. They did repair it under warranty but you can't extend the warranty surprise surprise and when I asked them for a hinge repair cost out of warranty they refused to give me any guide price on that. The reason is because it's bloody expensive and they don't want that information shared around because no one in their right mind would buy one, and that's the point really. Don't buy a samsung foldable because they are not robust enough and you will be left with a worthless piece of junk

To tell you the truth, I rarely use the inside of my fold 5. So hopefully the newer hinge will last. 🙏

I had a Fold 4 and after 7 months the inner screen protector started to come away at the hinge fold, this then stopped the Fold 4 folding flat (stopped approximately 170°). Got it repaired under Samsung care warranty that came with the phone. Then another few months later I noticed the screen protector started coming away again. Traded it in for a S24 and I will be sticking to candybar style phones from now on. Definitely a design flaw and I can honestly say I won't be going back to foldable phones anytime soon.

Hi Guys,
I don't recommend Galaxy Fold. I am using Galaly Fold 4.
Three weeks ago, I found my Galaxy Fold 4 did not open completely, so I visited the Samsung service center.

He refused to repair my phone in warranty, he requested $600 for this,

The service agent said some dust is inserted through a hinge. Samsung does not protect it completely.

I hope Samsung repairs this problem, I think this is not the customer's fault but a product issue.

Please consider this issue when someone buys this product. You could pay a lot of money to fix this during the warranty period.
