2 Fold 4 ordered and both have had hinges repaired within months. Samsung refused to repair the latest hinge fault (same issue - won't fold flat and screen protector delaminating) claiming warranty was voided by scratches on the phone body and a chip at a corner of the screen, quoting all repairs, including the hinge must be paid for. Total £619!

I can confirm Samsung will NOT honour the warranty on foldable phones. Mine (Fold 4, cost nearly £2K when I bought it in late October '22) recently stopped opening fully, and as a result there are distortions on the images shown on the screen. It is still under warranty so I took it in expecting it to be repaired. I was denied on the basis of a teeny tiny dent so small I couldn't see it until the technician pointed it to me, alleging (falsely) that the tiny dent was causing the hinge to not open fully. The dent is shallower than the embossed "Samsung", and insignificant. We all know why these hinges stop opening: the adhesive holding the bristles inside the hinge eventually fail, and the bristles get caught in the gears of the hinge. This was a deeply disappointing experience and I'll not be buying a phone from Samsung again.

Same issue here! They sent me a quote for $345 to replace this stating that its not covered under warranty and I only had my phone for 6 months with a case. Luckily I bought geek squad protection with best buy because Samsung, you suck!

Yes warranty is total joke. Samsung people in Oxford Street kept looking till they found a tiny scratch so warranty was void.

Similar experience for me. I bought a Samsung Fold4 for £1440 ($1900) in the UK. After 18 months, still in its warranty period, the hinge stopped working and the phone stopped opening up fully flat. When I sent the phone to Samsung for warranty repair, I got an email from an unknown repair shop asking for £600 to repair it saying that a cosmetic scratch on the outer cover of the phone voided the warranty on the hinge which is nowhere near the scratch and they planned to change for screen and battery even though I hadn't asked. It seems Samsung had sent my phone with all its data to a 3rd party dodgy company without my knowledge and now that dodgy company started sending me ransom mails and text messages asking for £600 to return my phone. It took me 2 weeks and many calls to Samsung to get phone back unrepaired. RIP OFF! SCAM! DON'T BUY ANY SAMUNG FOLD PHONE, they are very expensive yet very cheap in quality. BETTER YET, DON'T BUY ANY SAMSUNG PRODUCT.

Being a 90's baby (with '95 as the cut-off year to count) and growing up in the midst of the technological age, after the Y2K scare, and now sitting in 2024, almost 2025, it's surprising to see a return to basic technology styles. I thought flip phones were a thing the past with the Propel, the Razor, and other similar models from US Cellular. The Razor has even made a comeback. It might have seemed odd to BlackBerry when Apple introduced the iPhone, but the phone's style and concept were solid if you managed not to drop and shatter the screen. However, as a former iPhone owner and now an unhappy former owner of a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, I must say I was much happier with my Galaxy S9 until I had a mishap with the SIM card tray, which led me to the Galaxy Z Flip. When I first got the phone, I loved it, particularly the AR emoji feature for the wallpaper and the cursor pad option in split screen mode But within a month, a black line appeared across the screen fold, spread, and I noticed the side hinge was missing, causing the screen to separate. If I hadn't let my excitement overshadow my observations, I would have returned the phone before falling in love with it. My birthday is this Sunday (12/22), and I almost repurchased the same phone, thinking a newer model might fix the. However, I decided to order a Note 10 and use it until I'm forced to upgrade because I can't keep up with Apple anymore. I don't like constantly upgrading phones unless I really like one, usually based on its color, as these phones are essentially the same with different names, operating systems, and camera counts. In my opinion, Galaxy does make a better operating system.
