Undo recent update - unchangeable new message settings

When I open my texts I get a popup now that says I have unread messages. I am already looking at my unread messages, in my messages app, what's the point of this? It also takes up large portion of my screen which which limits how many messages I can see. It's an unchangeable setting too. How can I undo this update so I can see my messages normally again?

Could you not press the X in the top right to close it?

Also, which sms app are you using? I'm guessing it's samsung messages. The default messaging app google messages don't seem to do it.

Google messages replaced Samsung messages years ago, all new devices don't include the samsung one. Only older devices still come with it.

I can only really suggest swapping to google messages. I could talk for paragraphs about the drama of samsung messages but to be short.

Samsung made a thing

Google made a better thing

Samsung kept saying to swap to google

Samsung made a popup saying to swap, people got mad about change

New devices only have google, people got mad, samsung messages became downloadable optionally.

I get the vibe samsung is only really keeping their messaging app going because people got very angry when they tried to replace it.

Give google messages a try, hopefully you like it better

Oh I had no idea. I just like prefer Samsung messages cause the Google themes are ugly 😔 I'm gonna assume I can't revert to the old version?

The s24 and older came with it, meaning it's a system app. So you shouldn't be able to uninstall it. It's also probably integral to some system the phone uses. Android itself won't allow an app to be downgraded. And you can't uninstall the current one to install an older one due to the system app thing.

I'd say just try google messages. I do have 1 idea but there's a decent chance it could just break samsung messages, meaning no more messages, so saying it could cause more harm than good.
