Hi,

I updated my phone to One UI 7. It worked briefly but there were some issues with apps not functioning.

Reset the phone and now it won't accept the pin code.

It knows the correct pin code because it says when it's incorrect.

When the correct pin code is entered, the screen momentarily goes blank/black, and then requests pin code again.

I have tried the following steps:

  1. Resetting the phone
  2. Trying to enter the settings through the swipe menu
  3. Wiping cache partition via recovery mode
  4. Trying to connect with Smart Switch

Please help!

Problem is best described as 'does not unlock'... You can enter the PIN, but the phone momentarily goes black and then returns to the PIN entry screen

Hi @ocelot900, and welcome to the Samsung UK & Ireland community forum. This isn't an issue I've personally heard of, but I'll do my best to assist.

If you haven't done so already, could you enter your PIN as 0000 to see if this lets you in?

If you've already tried this, please could you try to put your phone in Safe mode? You may not be able to do this, as you will be asked to enter your PIN in order to do so, but it'll still be worth attempting it. We have an online guide for how to use Safe mode, which you can access by clicking here

You also mention that you have reset your phone. Was this a soft reset or a factory data reset?

Hi Chris,

Resetting was both a soft reset plus a full power off and wait for a while.

We tried using 0000 pin code, that didn't work.

Then tried safe mode and that also didn't work - please see the YouTube link I posted.

The only option that seemed left to do was a full factory reset, this resolved the problem but with a lot of data loss.

Will need to make sure the phone is backed up in future, can't trust software updates not to break it.
