I have tried several times to connect my Samsung Galaxy S24+ via a official Samsung USB cable to my Windows 11 Pro PC.. no go it keeps dropping my connection. I used my USB 2.0 port... haven't tried my USB 3.0 port yet.
its a slightly older cable from my Galaxy S10+ but that shouldn't matter.. should it?
I only have USB type A on my PC but the old cable is free from breaks or any sign of damage.. 😞
my motherboard is a ASUS PRIME x570-Pro BIOS v5003 so latest..
I will check for driver updates for it I guess...
So what gives?
Anyone else having this issue?

I got it to work finally... a Google search worked for me this time..
I found that by setting the default USB mode to file transfers in the Android developer settings...
and connecting it to a USB 3.0 port on my PC it worked this time..

That sound like a driver issue. Do you get a USB notification to select the USB mode? The slightly older cable might be an issue. Can you get newer USB A to C cable? It will not hurt trying. I will try the USB 3.0 port, just to check that it behaves the same.
Another thing that you could try to check the phone's USB port. It is to connect directly an external HDD and see if there a connection issue.
Please give it a go and let us know the results.

my spare USB type C to A was making ever more Windows disconnect notifications.. it worried me so I disconnected the cable before any damage could occur I hope..
only sounds... no visual popups on Windows...
Its a brand new phone so there shouldn't be any damage to the USB port already.. its why I upgraded to a new phone... my old phone a Galaxy S21+ was having issues with its USB C port..
too many insertions and removals from charger... so I use the wireless charging pad now... works better...

Your cables are most likely at fault. Can you get a new cable? It was a good decision not to use those cables. I agree with you, better safe than sorry.
I suggested trying an external HDD (USB C), because the phone should handle that very nicely and it is a good way of checking that the port on the phone is not to blame. An external HDD, will need power and data transfer.
I did not think that the phone's port was the problem, but it is always good to check that it is working as expected. It could be faulty and the phone costs a reasonable amount of money. It is a way of troubleshooting to be sure that your phone is in perfect working order.

I don't have a USB-C external HDD or flash drive that is type C.. so no go there.
Its a $1000 phone so I hope its not faulty... 😞 That is what Q/A checks are for...
hmm... my cable could be at fault.. but no way to fully test it as I don't have anymore money right now... totally broke.. I am paying monthly on the phone till its paid off for 2 years.
and I never get a reply from Samsung here.. 😞 sad.

I understand that some options are not economically viable. However, is there a friend or family member who lend you any a cable or HDD just for testing purposes.
Please note that this is the European community forum. Samsung does not reply here, ever. Most users, if not all, are people like you and me who bought a Samsung product, even when they might look like they are Samsung's employees.
If you wish to report something to Samsung, you should use your members app.
Open the app, select the support tab and go down the menu to Send feedback -> Errors report and follow the steps. You will have better chance to get a reply from Samsung there.
In here you will have another user who would try to help based on personal experience. We are not trained support agents.
