Ive had the galaxy s24 ultra for about 2 months now. I've been having overheating issues since i got it. And it seems the issue gets worse and worse.

When im on social media it heats up like crazy. When im listening to music it heats up and when im playing games it becomes unplayable after 10 minutes due to heat and lag caused by heat.

Samsung s24 Ultra, few months old, now I'm getting overheating issues (from time to time) and also sometimes phone is getting really hot when is charged from low figures like 4-5% battery (battery don't get hot, more the cpu area). Also there is very high drop on battery procentage (happen often) about 5% drop on 5mins when watching youtube - phone didn't performs like that before. When was purchased was fine for long time. Anyone else experienced that kind of degradation?

I was having the exact same issue. Heating up like crazy after a month I got it. With the bare minimum. I took it to the Samsung repair shop and they found the battery was deffective so they changed it. It is okay if it heats up playing games, but boiling if I'm just scrolling on social media or checking my gallery shouldnt be the case. I own an S23 Ultra and it works wonders (i only had to change it because storage wasn't enough :C )

Anyway when they returned it, they messed the vibration sensor up so  I took it in again for a replacement.  The process has been SLOOW SLOW but after a month and something of suffering, I finally got a replacement phone from samsung. If your phone is under warranty I would take it to the retail shop and ask them to take it in for actual technical review. And make sure to have a backup phone because they might wipe everything out.

I know this topic was created a month ago, but this can help guide someone else.

  • Just running youtube music does this to mine. It's about 50 degrees without a case and the screen turned off. Worried it might explode...

Yep, YouTube music over heats like crazy, even with the screen off (I have premium) it still overheats and I have to remove the cover, turn it off and put it screen face down to cool it down.

I guess this is normal. I've created this video to show how my phone behaves and behaved and that overheating probably is expected. At the end there also some advices, probably they help.

@Juls4nn4: Please don't worry, as your device will warn you if it is operating above the temperature limit, and will automatically switch off as a safety measure to allow time for it to cool.

Some overheating is to be expected when using power intensive apps like social media sites, games and streaming services, however there are steps that you can take to prevent the device from overheating. With this in mind, please take a look at the guide in the link below.
