So tonight I've set up my S24+ using my S20. I Googled which phone the SIM had to be in but Google said it didn't matter as it's done over WiFi. Sure enough it is doing it over WiFi but towards the very start it wanted me to put my SIM in my S24+ (so hardly "doesn't matter").
Anyway, as I'd popped the tray out, I never put the SD card back in to my S20 .... and all my photos are stored on this.
Obviously the pictures are not going to turn up on my S24+ as they're on the SD card.
I'd like all my photos on the S24+ as well as the gallery album structure that I had on S20 (I had numerous albums & some albums having sub-albums).
I really need to send off my S20 for trade in real soon so I'm running out of time & as I'm working I have limited time in the evening.
So just wondering the best way to do it now that my S24+ has almost finished setting up.

- check to see if smartswitch allows the transfer of files from SD card
- once your phone data has transferred over, delete from your old device then transfer SD card data to old phone storage, then go through smartswitch again > new phone
- connect the devices using cable to transfer files
- Samsung had a cloud based transfer option (which may take time) whereby it will upload data to cloud then you can pull it down
- use Google drive or OneDrive etc to transfer files
- get a usb-c SD card adaptor, then you can simply plug in your SD card to your new phone

I use Smartswitch to move my gallery folders from my previous phone to my new phone and also use Dropbox to back up my photo's @PowderedToastMan
Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.
The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

I will add an external USB HDD as a possible solution. I have a SSD T7. I use it to transfer data from the old phone or computers into my phones. It is very fast and simple.
Get your SD card onto the S20, copy all data from the card to the HDD, and transfer it to the new phone. This will also provide you with an extra backup as bonus. Of course, if you do not have a HDD, there is an additional cost. I would argue that it is worth it.
If the S20 has Quick Share, then that could be another option. Quick share is blazingly fast on the S24.
