My new S24 refuses to connect to my PC via USB. My old S8 would appear automatically in File Explorer (as Phone) whenever I plugged the phone into a USB port. The S24 does not show up at all whenever I plug the phone into a USB port. It's simply not there and I can't find a way to connect to it. What do I need to do to connect the phone to the PC via a USB cable so I can transfer photos?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

After chasing my tail on this for a while, I finally tried a new cable. Voila... It connects just like it should. Thanks for all of the help on this.

@robroten: When you connect your S24 to your PC, please try swiping from the top of the screen to the bottom and check the Notification panel for a USB connection notification. If you see one, tap on it, and select the option for MTP of transferring files.
If you have Windows 10 or higher then you may also wish to try 'Link to Windows' to drag and drop your photos to your PC. For more information, please take a look at the link below.

Hi @robroten
You might like to install the latest version of SmartSwitch, it will install the drivers. It might be that you need newer drivers.

You should also try a different USB cable, just in case.

@robroten Some other ideas should issue remain after following other advice:
you may need to set a default via Developer Options? Developer Options-Default USB Configuration, Transferring Files.
If Developer options not set up Go to Settings-About Phone and tap Build Number 7 times. Will need to enter password ,Pin or Pattern at this point. See more details here: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-turn-on-the-developer-options-menu-on-my-....
you could also try to reset the settings of the USB port of your phone. To do this, go to Applications and Activate "Show system applications" by tapping the 3 lines to the right of Your Apps, select ok.
Find the USB settings app and in storage, delete the cache and data. Restart the device and see if that makes a difference.
