Whatsapp backup conundrum!

Can anyone help, ive sent my Old phone off for trade in now.

Whatsapp autosigned me in on my new device and today ive come to realise i am missing so much whatsapp media its actually quite scary!! 

So i did do a backup to smartswitch desktop but i cannot seem to find a whatsapp folder when im looking through file explorer of the smart switch backup folder? 

Google drive has since overwritten my drive whatsapp backup so its just the new stuff there with all vids/media from old device missing... 

Is there a way to get that the old images/videos back. Smartswitch desktop backed everything up as far as i know but i dont want to have to do a whole smart switch restore to my S23 Ultra

(lesson learnt here, the whatsapp folder for vids/images is now gonna be backed up to google photos going forwards)

Its not the memes i care about, its the random videos i had of my kids doing silly things that werent saved in my actual gallery 😞

@Jamsterdm: I'm sorry to hear that you have encountered this issue with your WhatsApp media. WhatsApp has it's own backup process, so I recommend opening the app > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Settings > Chats > Media visibility > On (to show downloaded media in your Gallery) > Chat backup > Backup to Google Drive (choose your preferred option e.g. weekly). 

With these options enabled, this should reduce the risk of losing any WhatsApp media should you switch to a new device in the future.

Same happened to me I had to clear the data and cache from Whatsapp so it logged me out to so I could sign back in and it automatically started downloading the media when I restored the backup

That ships sailed for me I'm afraid. Sent the old device off for trade in this morning and my WhatsApp was set to backup overnight everynight alas Google drive has been overwritten. Absolutely devastated but learning curve I guess!
