So my partner bought a refurbed like-new S23 Ultra last year and dropped it a couple months ago, smashing the screen. He took it to a phone repair shop and after they replaced the screen, it couldn't register his SIM properly. So he took it back to them twice more, before they eventually "sent it away to be fixed".
He got it back on Monday morning and at first the screen was unresponsive and only lit up for a split second, only showing the time when he pressed the power button. Then it worked absolutely perfectly for a couple of days, until this morning (Weds), and now the screen stays black even though the phone is on.
We tried restarting it multiple times, but the only light you can see from the screen is "Samsung Galaxy" when it first turns on, then only the clock when you press the power button - it displays for less than a second before it fades to black. It's also very very dim, but he had the brightness up high before it started doing this. It vibrates as if it's doing normal things.
I can call it, and my name and the answer/decline buttons show up very briefly. He can answer the phone and talk just fine, but there's just no life in the screen.
Does anyone have any ideas what we can do? He's ready to bin it but it seems a waste of money.
