This is now my second S23 ultra as my first one was lost and/or stolen.. Either way, I've already used up my 1 replacement, and I didn't pay for a new warranty because it was not in my budget. Anyways, I do a little device fixing, have fixed my own devices as well as friends devices every once in a while for a couple years now. So I am fairly comfortable and confident with my abilities to do so. That being said. I don't know what is wrong with this phone now.
Okay, so originally, the phone was fine, up until one day when I forgot it was in my pants pocket (sweatpants) and it flew out of my pocket when I was riding my Motorcycle.
I noticed it was missing as soon as I got home. I remembered it was in my pocket and thought "oh that's what hit my foot" while I was driving. So I already had a possible area where the phone could potentially be. To be sure, I checked my "find my phone", and sure enough, it was exactly at that location when I thought I had felt something hit my foot...
The phone was still in the middle of the road. (I had hoped it would have gone into the ditch or something, but no).. It was mangled. And DESTROYED. The screen was ripped out each layer was peeled off, and you could see the frame of the phone before the mother board. And the back of the phone, was shattered to pieces, hanging losely, and the glass covers for all the camera's and sensors were broken.. The phone was busted completely Ithought.
the s pen was nowhere to be seen, and the sim card and sim tray vanished into thin air as well.
But at the least, I had found my phone.
I took it home. took off the destroyed digitizer that was still semi attached, and the back that was barely hanging on.. everything was shattered, frame was pretty roughed up and mangled as well.. But I took apart everything broken, and was surprised to see that the interior of the phone was still unharmed. Everything looked perfectly fine.. So I decided to charge it over night because it had died. And I was still woken by it's alarm which was annoying the hell out of me, (not being able to turn it off), so I had eventually very quickly jumped to plug it into my samsung dex mount. And I wasn't even thinking about the fact that I'd be lucky if it worked.... But it did.
The entire phone worked perfectly fine through dex. I was excited. I thought it was a goner for sure.
I jumped online, and ordered myself a new screen and frame for it.. (screen comes already pre installed on the frame).. Anyways, it was a couple weeks delivery time, and I used the phone the entire time no problem through dex. I gamed with no issues. even tested all the components of the phones features and everything was functional. mic still worked, all the sensors still worked, all the cameras still worked. everything was working perfectly fine... So I was excited for my new screen..
I plugged in the screen, at first it dint want to power on. But eventually after a little pressing and rubbing, it did. It fired right up.. I tested all the features again, even the thumbprint, the scanner, the metal detector features, I tested everything and it all worked perfect. The phone worked for a day, the next day, about half way through the day, (I noticed the battery life had seemed to be impacted a bit) but it would still last several hours which was fine by me. Anywho. I charged it up full. And was using it normally through my daily use.. Suddenly one time I take it out of my pocket press the power button,,,,, and nothing... It worked fine when I just had it plugged into samsung dex withot a screen without a back without anything on it, and it was perfect. suddenly I get a screen for it, had a back on order.. Which did show up soon after. But by the time the back showed up the phone was already dead.
I've changed the charger port board for the type c connector because upon trouble shooting I realized that one of the ports showed a little damage, so I ordered a new port for it thinking that would fix it. It did not... So I ordered new cables.. Still nothing. I headed the board up to give all the soldering a fresh tack... still nothing... I believe the screen was fried because I saw some yellowing tinge on it. however the motherboard and all interior components look perfectly fine.
Just a black screen... It won't charge, it won't force reboot, it won't connect to.
Is it possible that my solution could be as simple as changing the battery? Or would the phone still turn on eventually, (in theory) even if the battery was dead (if the phone remained connected)?
I don't want to waste more money that I don't have on this phone than I already have, so I would hope to have at least a little hope before buying a battery for it.. Because essentially, I believe I'll need a new screen aswell since it looks burnt. And I have no problem getting a new screen for it on a later date, so long as I know the phone works., And would use dex in the mean time. But I don't wanna buy a battery if theres no hope in it... My thoughts are, I figured that eventually the phone would turn on, or the battery even if it was dead dead, would eventually hold just enough charge to turn on and operate so long as the phone remained plugged in. But no. The battery just won't take charge at all it seems.
I got a s pen to replace the one missing, and seems as if not even that will charge either, when trying to test it on a different phone. Can the issues be as simple as changing the battery? or am I looking at a faulty mainboard?

Your poor phone has certainly been through the wars @T Royce D Rhymer 😉
Sometimes it's time to let go and allow the phone to go to Samsung Heaven. 🪦
However you proceed I wish you all the best.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
