The phone will automatically disable (delete) apps that you have not used in awhile. It used to be possible to change a setting under battery maintencence to remove this feature, but with some update they have removed it.
Why? Do they not trust us to know which apps we want to keep and which we want to use? Its frustrating to look for an app and then see it has been removed, especially if you are in a place with poor internet. Please add this setting again Samsung.
And no, this is not "put to sleep". There you still have the app installed.

This has been happening to me a lot recently, too! Just now I noticed that the zelle app is no longer on my phone even though I use it maybe once every one or two months. But today I noticed it was gone. That's some BS if someone else is deciding what apps I can keep on my phone or not. Whether it's Samsung or Google.

Agree...just had a little used tablet tell me there were SIX apps being deleted. I don't know the actual wording of the message, but it didn't say they were being put to sleep, it said they were being deleted. I did disable the put to sleep option to see if that changes it's propensity to delete my apps.

I experienced the same strange behavior. And nope it's not about sleeping apps.
Apps I use maybe twice a year get "deactivated". You have to activate and update em manually.
Maybe Google got some strange name conventions. I found a list in settings with apps in "sleep" and many many more in "deep sleep". And those deep sleep apps seem to be the deactivated ones.
Ist on Energy and Blabla, where others told to find the sleeping apps.
On the point "Apps never in standby" you can add all apps. That's what I did. Don't know exactly if that works, but after putting all APS in there they were no longer "disabled".
(And my phone was stuck for about a minute)
Maybe that helps.
(I wonder which genius at Google has decided that it's even a good idea to disable apps without prompting. And on top of that give not a clear point in settings to disable that strange behavior.
I do know why I have certain apps on my phone, even if I just use em twice a year omg)

This is false information! It does NOT apply to android 13 devices. I have known about this "feature" since I got android 13 and I will not stop the android system from deleting the temporary files of unused apps. I have been constantly terrified of playing manyof my games because I know that soon after making any good progress the android system will delete the temp files "which in many games includes level progression". I have had to restart several games from scratch all because I get to busy for a few months. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF FREE TIME TO CONSTANTLY HAVE MY GAME DATA DELETED EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND! I loath this auto delete garbage but I can't find any way to disable it! Thanks samaung for being useless!

(not sarcasm) Google controls my Samsung phone... oh, now I feel silly why didn't that occur to me. But how do I stop this garbage can tactic?

This is a system wide feature that applies to all user apps. You can't disable it and it's not a "put to sleep" feature

Why is there so many rude ppl here on this post?? If you don't know what the OP is talking about then you don't need to give 2 cents of trash. This is a very noteworthy issue and it is VERY REAL! Don't side bash this dude because of some ignorant lack of knowledge!

I am personally very aquatinted with the "go to sleep" function. I also know about the option to put apps into "never sleeping" but this changes NOTHING! After a few months the apps listed as never sleeping still get the cash deleted and need to have all updates reinstalled. They may as well completely delete the apps when they do this because it makes several completely useless. For example... I paid for Doom on google play got several levels in and knowing full well about sleep mode I added doom to the "never sleep apps list" then got overwhelmed by work... A few months later I get a notification that doom has had all its cash and data deleted due to lack of use. I double checked the never sleeping apps section and Doom was one of the first on the list yet everything was still gone. I still needed to reinstall all updates and I still lost all game progression. I have gotten to the point that I am afraid of playing doom on my phone because of the auto delete function of android 13. There is no way to stop this from happening. It doesn't cause havoc with all apps though. Most apps are saved to the cloud and user data is perfectly preserved but many games that are ported from other OS's don't have this cloud save feature. I think it comes down to the age of the app you have and if it is even optimized for the android phone system. It might be useful to contact your developers and tell them about this problem. They might be able to work something out that can protect your app data from being deleted.. my best advice.

Good job OP!

I may have figured out the problem. Its not the operating system its google. Take a look at the screen shots I've posted.
