Repair service in the UK for a laptop purchased in South Korea

Hi,

I bought my Galaxy Book 4 Ultra in South Korea last year, and I live in the UK at the moment.

I have a problem with the USB C ports (both of them!), which doesn't seem to be a software or driver problem.

So I'd like to get a repair service in the UK, but the booking system told me I couldn't get it because the laptop wasn't bought in the UK.

Is it really true that there's no chance of getting help from a Samsung service centre for the Samsung laptop I bought in another country?

Yes, you can arrange a paid for repair of course

Follow the above advice to contact Samsung. You can usually opt for:

Collect, repair, return
Repair at home (costs more)

Or if you see lucky enough to live near A Samsung Experience Store you can book an appointment and take it in. If they can repair on site, great, if not they'll send it away for you.

While Samsung's official policy might restrict service for laptops purchased outside the UK, options remain. You could contact local UK laptop repair shops. Alternatively, you might try contacting support by phone; however, if they initially refused service, further attempts may be unproductive.

Thank you very much for your quick response. Yes, I agree that it does not look promising... this is so frustrating, but I will have to find another way.

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Customer to Customer Forum

Samsung-warranty is now worldwide.

So please reach out to Samsung Customer Services either by phone or by we they should be able to arrange a repair if your warranty is valid (timeline based on country of purchase).

Thank you for your information! However, it seems that my warranty ended last month... I can (and really want to!) pay for a repair, but you mean that I am not able to get a repair service from Samsung UK if the warranty is not valid?

After all, it turned out that there was only one way to fix my laptop - call Samsung Support.
Separately, the problem was solved by updating BIOS.
There was a BIOS update notification two days ago, so I updated BIOS and the USB ports worked again.
So, it was not a hardware issue, but a software issue.
I hope this helps people who have a similar problem in the future.
