Hi
Since the 24H2 Windows 11 update, the keyboard and trackpad have stopped working.
Outside of the Windows environment (ie in the BIOS or by booting to a distro - ie a flavour of Linux or Windows PE environment) they work fine.
I've tried the usual fixes (disabling fast boot, setting the HID service to automatic, removing the items from device manager and letting the computer discover them again) but nothing works at all.
As a last straw I did a factory reset but astonishingly it's still not working.
I downloaded a W11 installation CD and booted off that and during the setup process the keyboard was working fine. Once I got to the desktop it was working fine until all the updates (and drivers) started installing via Windows Update then the keyboard stopped working again.
It must be one of the drivers in 24H2 that is therefore causing the issue.
Is there a separate keyboard and trackpad driver that I could try as the laptop is unusable at the moment without plugging an external keyboard and mouse in.
As a side issue, the machine is on the P12RHB BIOS. There is a newer one available (P13RHB) but I've tried installing that both from the executable file on Samsung's support site and also via Samsung Device Care but it refuses to install either way. It goes through all the motions but I'm still on the older version and under Firmware in Device Manager I have a "SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS System Firmware" item with the yellow exclamation mark.
Any help appreciated as this is driving me mad now
Thanks,
Andy

An outdated BIOS can cause hardware compatibility issues. Ensure your laptop is connected to a power source and has sufficient battery life (at least 80%) before attempting a BIOS update.

Im dealing with this since the 4/29/25 update on my book 4 edge. Have you found any work around yet, Andy?

Yes, finally got there in the end!
I used the excellent WAU Manager (https://www.carifred.com/wau_manager/) from a clean install and then put all the updates back on one-by-one until I found the one that broke the keyboard and trackpad functionality.
The update that caused the problem is Intel(R) Corporation HIDClass - 2.2.2.5
No idea why Windows Update is trying to put that version of the driver on, it's over two years old. There is a much newer version (2.2.2.10)
From memory I didn't install that, I just blocked the one that was causing the issue (2.2.2.5) and everything has been fine since.
Haven't solved the issue with the BIOS but happy that the keyboard and trackpad are working fine again now on 24H2!
Cheers,
Andy
