Hi there,

I have this problem for over a month now.

I have a Samsung TV model UE49MU8005 connected to a Pioneer Receiver model VSX-LX302. Everyhting is well connected, as far as i know, TV firmware is 1210.8.

Tv is connected through a recent HDMI cable (UHD, ARC, etc etc) from the ARC output of the receiver to the ARC input of the TV (HDMI 4). Anynet is on.

When I disconnect the cable and connect it again, it starts identifying the source on the TV and it always says "unknown source" so i have to manually configure the tv remote. After it detects my Receiver, turns it on and off ok, and finishes the connection. Everything seems ok. But the problem starts here:

- The sound does not come out through HDMI from the TV if I select an app from the hub. Neither it does if it's connected to the antenna of the tv.

- I have sound from the cable box and from a PC both connected to the receiver.

- The receiver has CEC on but it the sound is not there. When I disconnect the CEC on the receiver and connect it again, it starts searching for CEC devices but the answer is "no CEC device"! Although the TV is connected of course..

- Anynet stops working too, it doesn't control my receiver when this is happening.

- This bug goes on and off. It works sometimes, other times it doesn't. It seems that theres is some problem in the TV that disconnects automatically HDMI CEC, and then it just doesn't come back.

- I changed cables, update firmwares, disconnected everything and waited, then connected again, called Samsung support and they just don't seem to know what I'm talking about... The problem always persist.

Frankly, I'm considering returning the TV. It's new and for the price it should NEVER cause such hassle.

This is about something that should work perfectly and is not doing so. And it seems that everyone at Samsung knows the problem exists, they just don't know how to solve it... (according to the countless discussions about this topic, at least at the US community..).

Please help!

Regards

Don't hold your breath! Still so p*ssed my HU9000 was extremely expensive, Samsung promised to keep updating (including the annoying as hell smart hub that they updated once? I think...and charged ridic amounts of money for, negating the "update" label (never did so myself due to the cost and the super bad reviews). Now it's been well over a year since they even sent out an update. 1410.0...so not happy. And streaming apps (the few that are actually available) don't update either. All of this rendering the TV bad the apps  obsolete...just as they planned to force loyal customers to buy new TVs. Ever heard of "planned obsolescence"? Also know as highway robbery/bs deceit? My curved HU9000 is getting white bleeding in the corners now and it was a fraud in the first place calling it "4K UHD" and no HDR when that technology was available on cheaper TV's from other companies for much cheaper. Last Samsung I will ever own. Done. Look below the search can't even find my TV model smdh. Disgraceful and bs.

They never will and you prob won't be able to. If you do get ahold of them they'll just say nope.

I have a brand new Q90A. What I've found is that the system recognizes the HT fine and everything works perfect - until I hook up my DirecTV box. No matter how I hook it up (SAT box directly to the TV or through the AVR), the second I plug in the HDMI to the box, the HT option disappears.  If I remove the HDMI, all is good again. We're contemplating getting rid of Directv anyway so the problem my fix itself but it is annoying for now. So in the meantime I'm going to have to set up using an optical cable.

As others have mentioned, the fix is as easy as unplugging the power cord. To make this easier, just buy a $5 Kasa smart plug and set a scene to turn it on and off daily at say 4am.

Thank you, this was the solution, firmware auto upgraded 2 days ago and ARC was no longer working, receiver not recognized after 3 years of no issues. Simply unplugging the power cord solved it.

All,  I appreciate all the comments but these are all workarounds they are not fixes.  I think I'm done with Samsung and maybe onkyo too.  I will never buy another product from them.  Tv, appliance, anything.....Time to move on.  What brand do people like?  How is LG?  I have great luck with TCL for the price...Thoughts?

I am not a fan of LG at all. I got one of their TVs basically for free when Walmart couldn’t fulfill another order. The TV itself was OK, but not some thing I would invest my money in. I also bought their sound bar with wireless subwoofer and surroundsound. all of that was incredibly unreliable and made my blood boil. Not sure what to recommend but I'd steer clear of LG

Recently bought a Denon x2700h to go with my Samsung TV (UE55MU6220) like others things were great until CEC just randomly disappeared and stopped working. I just want to know what is the best work around for this?! I tried pulling the power cord and it still didn't resolve the issue. Is there a method to this? Or shall I accept defeat whilst sat with 5 remotes (could just be 1 if Samsung actually cared) or contemplate getting a new Sony TV in these difficult financial times. Any help be much appreciated.

Hi there, you should try disconnecting everything from power for 30 secs: TV and receiver and any boxes. Then connect everything again. Maybe also update the software but that is obvious.. 😊

Unfortunately it seems Samsung cannot fix this issue, as a lot of people have the same problem, me included from time to time. But this workaround seems to put ARC working again.

This is such a depressing bug. I will never buy Samsung ever again. I have spent so much time on this issue, so screw them.
