When I run on a treadmill my GW 4 Classic shows wrong values for distances.
My treadmill shows me running 3km for 20 minutes at 9Km/h when my watch shows me running anywhere between 0,28 to 2,5km. An example: 20 minutes running, 2,900 steps and distance 0,28km. That indicates a stride lenght of 10 cm!!!
Is there anyway to calibrate the stride lenght? (there should be)!

I couldn't get the Samsung Health app distance to be anywhere near my actual distance covered.
I've recently switched from Samsung Health to Gear Tracker II - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limegreenv.geartracker
When you complete an indoor run in this app, it automatically gives you a "calibrate" option, which allows you to adjust the distance for your activity and saves your treadmill adjustment (e.g. if you calibrate + 10%, it will use 110% of the logged distance for future runs both for data posted e.g. to Strava and for the on-screen displayed data while running).

I have the exact same issue. Any updates from Samsung?

I was having this issue. Make sure the watch is snug on your wrist. Even a slightly loose watch will give the wrong result. Mine was actually reading higher than the treadmill.

Thx, I'll try this the next time.

Perhaps if there was a feature to edit the distance value in S Health app, this could be used in an algorithm to improve accuracy of individuals running stride? It can never be accurate due to change in terrain and stride but this would give a more accurate average. Mine is woefully out although I map my treadmill distance through ifit app and use my watch for other health stats and HR. S Health is a great app for storing data in a useable way 🙂👍

Same problem here! My Galaxy watch 4 always shows 0.5kms - 1 kms less than actual treadmill reading!! I called Samsung Customer support they said your treadmill must be faulty. I redid workout on different treadmill but problem persists. They should simply give an edit workout option like all cheap fitness trackers do.😐

Just got an Galaxy Watch 5 and still the same problem - inaccurate distance for treadmill running. For me it's not a difference with GPS on or off - it shows about 3.3km on a 5k run either way. Quite strange that this has not been fixed by Samsung, by either having a better estimation between body length and stride length or, as suggested in this thread, having a simple calibration option.

Is there any feedback from Samsung on this?

Just want to throw in my comment saying yes I have this exact problem Galaxy watch 5 and yes I would love to be able to enter manual data that would help train the measurements and yes it's very frustrating

Mine improved after a period of running ouside prior to winter. It would record about 9.5km for a 10km run. However, I got a new phone so had to reset and then it returned showing approximately 8.6km for a 10km run. I'm hoping that returning to running outside will 'calibrate' it ready for next winter back on the treadmill.
Very frustrating that this isn't fixed by Samsung
