Sorry to write in english but this thread is the only one I found where my probelm was reported.
I have an EU Model UE40ES7000 (living in Germany) and since a few days I have the same problem.
@Samsung Support: Please give us an update! ERROR_MODEL_BIND is reported to be an Samsung Server failure or an shut down due to server maintenance. When can we expect an solution?
Looks like that only 2012er ES and EH are affected... This cannot be an coincidence!

SOLVED
hi djmaniac,
I had identical problem to yours, model UE40ES6540Q.
I solved the problem today by downloading, updating firmware, from the samsung website.
Formatted FAT32 usb pen,
installed the file inside the usb pen,
inserted into the TV OFF,
turned on TV,
carried out update.
All work as before
link for your model: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=UNI_IT&CttFileID=5798531...
the updating procedure is very delicate and I recommend to do it ONLY BY professional technicians

Efectivamente,
He probado actualizar el firmware a la versión mas nueva usando un usb y el problema se ha solucionado.
Probar a hacerlo.
