TV Media Player MKV files problems

I have some MKV files on a memory stick which play perfectly on two of my Samsung Series 6 TV's but Glitch badly on two of the others. The TV's are all roughly the same age and the same series and all have up to date firmware it just seems that the media player on two of the TVs doesn't like the files on the memory stick. I've also tried playing the files using Universal Media Server on the network with the same result, there seems to be a problem with the  media player on those particular TVs. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere on the problem TVs?

I would say this is a codec issue. I have similar problems. My PC has the necessary codecs but fail to stream to my TVs.

Yes, that was my thought. I've tried two different versions (720p and 1080p x264) of the files with the same results. Other MKV files play perfectly on all my TVs.  The files also play perfectly on Laptop, PC and my Samsung Android phone. I can only assume that the Media player on some Samsung TVs is slightly different in some way and doesn't fully support the codec used. Weird.

@Lentilbake: It's possible that MKV files are not supported on the affected models. In order for me to look into this for you, please can you confirm the model numbers of the TV's you're having issues with? These can be found on the stickers on the back of the TVs, or in Settings > Support > About This TV.

Thanks,I will do this ASAP but, just to say, I have no problems with most MKV files, just a few refuse to play on a couple of my TVs.

Just a thought. Of the files that work try using identical settings such as frame rate etc then use those settings on the non working files.

This TV plays the MKV file but stutters and glitches:

This TV plays the same file without any problems:

All TVs claim to be on the latest firmware when I try  to update.

My friend's larger and newer Samsung TV also has the same problem playing the file.

My other larger and newer TV also plays the file OK (details below):

Not too worried about this as it's only a few files that these TVs seem to struggle with, I can usually find alternatives. Just a bit weird really, there must be something different in the media players on the problem TVs.

Just to say that results are the same whether playing directly from USB memory stick or by streaming from PC via Universal Media Player.
